Why are capaciters no good?

Caps are only good if you have a proper electrical. They discharge much faster then a battery.

When your car is on you shouldn't be discharging your battery anyway...

ha, what kind of hyundai? I drive an 04 Accent and DC built me a 225A alt, and I believe it ran about $400. HO Alts aren't cheap, there's a lot of places that sell them (including some ebay stores) but you usually get what you pay for.

Its an 05 tucson, I'll prob have it for another couple of years hopefully. So look at dc alts?

Yes, DC is a good company (like I said, I'm running one of their alts right now). I had a knukonceptz alt on my last car and it was great too but their selection is limited to domestic brands. I know there's other companies out there, iraggi and mechman come to mind, but I have no experience with either and can't vouch for them.

Do you know if those would out perform those 220+ amps on powerbastards.com cuz i was thinking about getting one from them its a direct bolt on. for 289 i believe, would u mind taking a poke around n telling me what u think?? Never heard of em so I can't comment on the quality. You could try making a new thread to find out if anyone on here has used them, search google for any reviews and check out bbb.org to see if they have any complaints. Other than that, be the guinea pig, buy one, and tell us how it goes, lol.

EDIT: One thing I do notice is that they don't advertise a very good idle output. My alt is 225A with like 170A idle, the one they advertise for my car is listed as 220A output with only 110A idle, which isn't that great.

Rob's a good guy. Sometimes they can take awhile because they don't just grab an alt off the shelf and ship it to you, they build them to order. I think mine took about 3 weeks but it was worth it.

also yall should check into excessive amperage ho alts ran them personally and they are beasts

now for yalls little discussion on electrical... you have to think about it when your car is running... your alts job in life is to keep voltage at 13.5-14.4 depending on the car some a little more some a little less... now a fully charged battery rests at 12.6... now think about it a little //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

its a big read but there is alot of info there,

and caps ****, a cap will discharge quick but it takes a much longer time to charge back up than most people think... plus the bigger the cap the longer it takes to charge and discharge. and it will NEVER reach its full charge, just how caps are. a good car audio batt will discharge as fast (some are faster) than a cap. and you WILL see a initial voltage drop.

now if i drop to 14.1 with my proper electrical why would i ever want to put a voltage drop into my system to keep the headlights from dimming???

op do it right get a good batt for up front and a h/o alt and you will be very happy. also keep in mind that a system is only good as its weakest link, so that means you NEED a proper ground in back (or do a negative run up front to the batt terminal), and a way for your alt to charge, so do your big 3

and p.s. i have witnessed a drop from 14.6v system off to 13.7 system off with a cap installed, and it was noticably quieter.
