Why are capaciters no good?

They run out way fast. They could provide a quick burst of energy but after that, they still have to recharge. They don't "ease the work of the alternator" because the alternator still needs to charge the cap back up. They might help with voltage drop, but that is like putting a band-aid on top of a bleeding arm instead of just fixing the bleeding arm. A second battery however is like surgery to fix it!

Thank you, I was planning on upgrading my original battery to one of the optimas, is that as useful? I plan on pushing 1300 watts

Your saying a system capable of drawing over 100A is fine to load up on the stock battery and alt? You don't even know what his stock alt is...
Lol neither do I -_- I have an 05 tucson, I still can't find what the alt is. I was planning on replacing my battery with an optima battery. The big three would be a pain in the *** to do in the car, would the new battery be able to push the power?

 
From 4 different systems ive installed on the 600 to 1500 rms range with one to two capacitors ive seen those go for one of them still going for its third year now, have to replace 0....yes zero alternators. For the guy running 1200 watts no capacitor he replaced his 3 times literally. I dont know exactly whats up with that but I say they work. 1.2 farads to every thousand watts, i would say get u a 2 or 3 farad one for overkill. My first setup was 800 watts rms on 2 - 12's NEVER had a power issue. Alt was a 110 stock alternator. Ran that one for 2.5 years.

No, an upgraded battery is not all it takes to run 1300w. I ran a similar system with stock front batt, yellowtop in the trunk, and a 200A alt. Now the alt might have been a little bit of overkill, but I never had a bit of dimming. Minimum your going to want two batts, but optimally your going to want to upgrade your alt. Otherwise you'll likely just end up killing it.

Caps can be used as filters or voltage stabilizers, they are not capable of fixing a problem caused by a stereo(amp) that draws more current than the vehicle electrical system can supply.
