so my best bet would be to just do something trick to my own car, take "worklog" pics to prove i done it then just go to a shop asking for a job and maybe buying the study guide to the mecp to study the stuff on the test. maybe i'll actually remember the next time i go "shop visiting" to ask the installers how they got started.

i was level 1 certified then advanced. i lean alot more towards audio than i do security or remote starts (i can trouble shoot them pretty good but freaking hate being under a dash for an hour or 2) i like trouble shooting more than anything though as a whole system noise and crap was my thing to fix lol. i doubt i will do it professionally (at a shop)anymore however its one of those hobbies you like but if you wanna keep on enjoying it dont do it professionally for too long. some people might disagree but from the MASSES of peeps i know 80% eventually burn out within 10 years with the majority of those not lasting more than 5. i still do video systems and such but with working full time and keeping up with new car technologies remote starts and security (also you will need tech support) are too time consumming for me to even want to bother with.

No biggy. I mean this was my first time taking it and I didn't really know what to expect. My only suggestion to anyone who wants to take it, read the entire book several times. Definitely remember the ohm's law and power formula.

I had no problem with the Electrical or Installation part at all. I passed both of those sections. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the Security section. Man, I missed by a few points. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

So, I may try later but I honestly not sure. I mean it's really not a requirement for most jobs in car audio but it is nice to have I guess.

BTW, when I was at SoundAdvice today for my interview, there are only a couple of people that the manager knew who had a MECP certification. And, he didn't even have one. LOL.
