Who thinks CA.com should join the SOPA Blackout on 1/18?

the true meaning behind the 2012 prophecy (well a few of them anyway) is actually the end of old times and the beginning of new. not necessarily the complete end.
Maybe so man who knows could just be a day with a different date could be the end. Who knows worrying about it want change the outcome. But if nothing happens at least I will still have a good night LOL..

Im ok with piracy. Ideas are abstractions, people can't own them. I mean, knowledge is communal. You can't say "that's my number 4" or anything. Anyone who can understand already owns it. The same is true for all abstractions and therefore all information.
I understand why some people think this would disincentivize ingenuity, but frankly that's not my problem. If people weren't so ******* greedy they wouldn't have to resort to monetizing information to earn income.
I hope you don't like this forum then because it will be gone

it's just ridiculousness, good luck taking the time and money to prosecute all site owners whose sites get shut down, cuz that is messing with their income....and we all know lawsuits happen when you mess with people's money.

Are you saying that sopa will endanger the operation of this forum, or that acceptance of piracy would demonetize this site?
my deal is what business does the govt have sticking its head into piracy anyways? can you say incentive from big business? You think the small amount of families affected by child *********** brought this whole issue about???Eh wrong it was the big businesses with connections to the govt trying to get rid of piracy for money sake....child *********** was just thrown in there to get support. No avg person gives a fvck about piracy, it doesn't much affect them...maybe in prices of things but not even much, but if you throw in child *********** all of the sudden everyone's on board to get rid of that.

as far as child *********** goes,,,I think it's up to parents to raise their kids without abusing them. Lets just prosecute the ones that do. As for the children that get abducted and sexually assaulted that is very sad, but stopping child *********** on the web isn't going to change that, some sick fvck is still gonna steal your child away from you and sexually assault them so it won't really change anything as far is ****** assault of a child is concerned, the only thing it will do is get rid of some of the vids on the web.

well with drugs they always say what a bad example it would be for kids. without leaning one way or the other (and I have my opinions) I find it especially loathsome and whorish to use children to promote politics. Some people truly believe that certain issues really are about the kids and at worst such people are misled. But many people mislead themselves through blind acceptance of culture and acceptance of the group conscience. So I find it hard to be too understanding because such people are complicit in the wrong that is done by not accepting responsibility for their own conscience. We are individuals before we are anything else and it is absolutely critical to the establishment of our own dignity and to the well being of others to divorce any conscience but our own. That doesn't mean people can't be collectively right, it just means they often aren't.

Well I am for the prohibition of child ***********. I am not for hiding behind kids to promote other interests. It the basic right to privacy. (removing images) Surely it must be possible to discriminate between child *********** and music/software/videos and such. If someone caught video of me in an illegal way i would expect protection. That is distinguishable from information which is not especially harmful to an individual or obtained at the expense of the individuals safety.

I assume you quesitoning why the recordings should be prohibited? The act itself is so disgusting and enraging. But I assume you mean the act of trying to regulate it? Because it was obtained at the expense of the individual and without their consent. When you release something into the public domain intentionally that is a different story, with like, say, ****. Or music, or software. Granted "licenses" are created to guide their distribution into the intended channels. But at this point privacy is no longer an issue.

So if someone hacked my computer and stole a song I hypothetically recorded and did not intend to distribute I would want it back. But when I release it for the world, its fair game.

I don't know if you are going to respond lol so I'll try to prove my points anyways. I am against child *********** as well...but is this really the proper way to go about ending it? think about it. This will hold the site owner responsible...not exactly the man holding the camera, undressing children. Also just because you shut down the site, doesn't mean this guy isn't gonna still go take **** pics of kids or sexually assault children. I'm sure once enough sites are shut down it will decrease the amount of guys sexually assaulting children, but not much and for all the freedoms we are losing I personally don't think it is worth it. It takes focus off catching the ****** assaulters and puts more focus on shuting down the websites. Also everyone knows child *********** is illegal, to post it on the internet is extremely risky, many of these offenders have advanced measures to safegaurd against being caught, measures that make it pretty impossible to catch them, if they are at all experienced in cyber security or hacking. So once again for all the time, effort and money that will be spent to attempt to enforce these things it will not be worth it in the end.....still just my $.02

again read my prior post this is not merely to get rid of piracy, forums/social media in their own do to government scandal. Our government doesn't care about piracy or childporn all they care about is making themselves look good and keeping us out of the loop.

Yeah piracy can lead to bad things, but I'm not willing to give up my freedoms for the "protection" of my freedoms. I have a different perspective on piracy anyway, I think it is our own personal problem to deal with security of our information. If I had a diary and had a friend over who made a copy and put it up on the web, yet I didn't want that diary put up on the web, thats my own dam fault for letting a friend get access to it. People/companies need to educate themselves on how to have cyber security not us tax payers. In the same way I wouldn't want to pay taxes to have diary protection....to me that's just stupid.

Im honestly not familiar with sopa and I try not to take sides until I read the fine print myself. sure is creating quite a stir though. I would like to read the actual legislation and hear the comments of the people that passed it and listen to the concerns of EFF, UCLA and such.
