it may, if its in the right conditions. i havent had a problem at all with mine, copper is still as shiny as the day i stripped it.

For DC cross-sectional area, not surface area counts for conductivity. All the strard count does is make it more flexible. Under normal circustances, OFC won't matter and neither will tinned wire. Both simply equal more $ out of your pocket.

I just bought the Kicker 0 gauge kit. Got it pricematched by cardomain on onlinecarstereo.com's price of $85. Compared to the $300 that the local shops in my area want for a stinger kit I figured what the hell.
