they also tell you in the specs "From 1 watt to rated power. Typically less than 0.05%". So don't try to put it out like its rating is a rock solid .2%. Thats like saying a sundown sa-8 handles 400 watts and nothing more because jacob says so.
And as far as not knowing anything or falling into forum babble...............i been doing this shiz since before the internet was invented. Oh wait you may pick that statement apart too , so let me rephrase that. I have been doing this car audio thing since before the internet was available to the average consumer and a IBM compatible 386 was a high dollar computer.

read the manuals , the THD measurement on all the PA amps was taken at 1 watt , not rated power.

you are correct , thats why it pays to pay close attention to specs. and find out the deal and how they came to derive the number in question. zed uses pink noise which is nowhere near as forgiving as music. full rated power and .2% distortion while playing pink noise is pretty **** spectacular.

Diamond. I just bought a D3 1100.1 in mint condition and something was wrong with it and it DC'd my friggin RD 15". But i highly doubt jacob rates his amps THD @ 1 watt. LOL.

it doesn't say , and if a company doesn't tell you the wattage they derived the THD rating from then they are more than likely inflated numbers
and the posts of power acoustik and legacy crap is just not fair. you know **** well anything from power acoustik is a fucking lie. only respectable products they ever made were the first run of MOFO subs and the a2400/3000db amps.

i'm gonna surrender , because after trying to dig up some information to prove you wrong i have found so many conflicting opinions that its not funny. 1% is not audible , above .1% is audible , i even found one that argued that THD is a completely useless spec. So i will just say imo , i think you should look for low numbers from a respectable company. and believe nothing that poweracoustik says.

i agree with that , but from experience i have nothing bad to say about any of the respectable companies amplifiers i have heard that were rated below .1%. and i have heard a decent amount amps that were rated 1% that were terrible. the latest case would be my uncles excelon x-40. Thing was GARBAGE! Rated at 70x4@1%THD , my RF 200a4 was rated 25x4@0.05% and was all around louder clearer cleaner and the imaging and seperation was noticably different in a good way compared to the brand new kenwood excelon. a 400 dollar amp BTW.
and i'm talking full range amps only , because 1-5% is not that bad when driving subs. if you can hear a difference on subs you are superman. LOL

check out the mb quart dsc 4125... Makes insane power and is priced very nicely. and theres a few for sale on here. also the aq 4x90 will bridge to 240x2 @ 4 ohms i think. Both can be had for under 250 brand new, and even less on the forums.

already owned the mb quarts...i paid 135$ shipped new for my dsc4125 id never pay what all the newbs are wanting for those amps
