uhhh yeah pink floyd being a huge inspiration on the music world. David Gilmour is brilliant in his guitar solos...he uses the "little is more" attitude. Have you ever noticed how his solos aren't really that complex but they are so powerful and have the right lick at the right time? He's a huge inspiration to me, I wish I could write stuff like he does.
Same could be said for the songs, some of the stuff they have wrote I can't even imagine how someone could create stuff like they have. The band will forever be one of the greatest that have ever graced the presence of this earth.

AFI isnt emo, go listen to something that isnt played on the radio (as in most of their other songs). Majority of their music is a lot harder and f-in rocks. Their oldest songs are pretty much straight up hard punk but they are always evolving, really hard to label them as one genre.

We all have opinions but having some knowledge to back it up makes it a lot more credible.

Try Malleus Maleficarum, This Celluloid Dream, Ever and a Day, and others to see how their style ranges.

even if their new music isn't your bag, i atleast give them merit for changing their style every few albums.....

a lot of bands' music sounds exactly the same all the way through the span of their career.

most of their music, yes, i cannot understand what they are even saying...and i do look up thier lyrics....but even then....their lyrics make no sence...example "love like winter": Warn your warmth to turn away

i give them credit for their earlier days. they're music was very fast paced and alot harder than their new stuff.

if you wanna argue about goth bands who wear makeup, then go look up T.S.O.L. (True Sounds Of Liberty). they started out in the OC in the early 80's and everyone thought they were retarded cuz they wore costumes and make-up. but little did everyone know that TSOL actually changed the OC punk scene with their fast paced, hard punk.

It's not to say that it's the same as hardcore tho that did spur off of the punk scene during the mid 80's.
