I have heard quite a few times over the last month or 2 bout people with 6.5" subs sitting huge numbers and even 10/12" subs hitting 145-150's with a couple hundred watts.I guess its true "everything is enclosure dependent".

How is it possible for them to come up with the designs that they use? And what do they use like a horn loaded, bandpass(what order) or some type of hybrid box? I have always wondered what a box design that produces those numbers with minimal power would be.

Anyone here ever designed something like that?

usually it takes alot of testing and alot of different enclosures before they get those scores. 150's with 2 12's isnt hard. But it does take good deadening, power source, etc.

We did a 145.8 with 900 in a single 12 in a single cab truck, and a 146.1 with just a little more power. With good equipment its not that hard to accomplish this. Not tht big of a deal.

even though 2 12's hitting 150 might not be hard...with a good design...what would that consist of and how the hell is a 6.5" hittin mid 140's or higher

There was a van with i think like 20 6x9's that hit 169.x, its on youtube somewhere. 6.5's can do 140, like u even said urself, it just takes a good design/install.

it's all in the car, the box, and A LOT of testing, trial and error

Just involves lots of testing and playing around with box size, port area and length, etc.

I did a 149.3 with a single 10" and ~800 watts.

No crazy weird box design, no weird bandpasses. It was a ported box, two 4" aeroports.

it doenst matter, u would need the exact same sub, same car, same sound deadening, amp, and everything.

same amp? not really just same power and quality and settings, no? a good box is better than a "1 fits all" box
