1. Market flooded, people are getting laid off, yet every other tv commercial is still the "Come to brand-x college get an IT degree, you are in demand" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Add into that the India factor and you have wayyy too many people for the same position, some with talent, and some with not so much.
2. Plays right in with 1. We were high on the hog 10 years ago. Supply and demand for IT labor was in our favor back then, today it is the exact opposite. The market also demanded quality people back then, now sub-par performance is acceptable aslong as the boat stays mostly afloat for a cheap wage.
All that being said though, there are still a few high paying jobs (in my eyes) being offered out there. I've had a couple offers but with my current work from home gig I have now I couldn't justify it, even at a significant salary increase.
If I made a company move I'd like it to be a career move as well, just for a change f pace, the money in IT makes that hard to do though.
