Who is really responsible for inflation?

To the title of the thread:

"A shocking poll exposes the utter contempt the elite holds the general public in, with more than three quarters wanting to ration food and energy to combat ‘climate change’ and a majority wanting air travel for holidays banned."

I remember those days. CAF used to get alot more traffic than DIYMA too. DIYMA did get the benefit of most of the ECA crowd adopting DIYMA as their new home when ECA died. I'm not sure what the answer is and I'm not sure how political threads do or don't affect other traffic. Can you limit posts in the Thunderdome? Is there a way to make posts in the Thunderdome contingent upon posting outside the Thunderdome - ie one post in the Thunderdome per post outside the Thunderdome?
Yes, posts limits can and have been implemented in the Thunderdome. No way I know to make posting ability in this forum contingent on posting in other areas, however.

Yeah, he said some really awful shit in my vendor thread, and he 100% posted full **** ****** ****.
Does anyone know of any ways to beef up the classifieds here? They used to be very popular, however like the site overall, the only thing popular here anymore are the political threads. As far as moderators go, the 2 we had left pretty much left, or became disinterested and no one really seems to want to step up to the job. It’s a really tough site to mod on, I realize.

DIYMA is busy because they have mods that have powers and can stop a lot of nonsense that happens. DIYMA also has people that are constantly selling there daily. Thousands of dollars of products are sold sometimes in a day there through private transactions. DIYMA just has a lot more to offer overall right now across the board.

CAF that place is nothing more then a warzone especially in the OT. The owner is a known Trumper which is fine and all but if you have a differing opinion forget it. The wolves attack you from all corners and it is pretty much a free for all there. I want nothing to do with a place where it is like that.

Here it isn't as busy because over the years a lot of the members have left because of getting out of car audio, moving on to DIYMA or some other reason.

One reason why some members have left is because the ones that have the title "Moderator" have no powers at all to do anything. That was a complaint from one of the mods a few times here in OT around 2-3 years ago. They just gave it up. Hell it didn't help matters that a certain member named Slo claimed the site as his own, would run off new members, constantly instigate people if he didn't like their name, posts or questions, he posted ****** **** in the one thread multiple times. He knew he could get away with what he wanted so he did. Thankfully he left 2 years ago and hasn't been back and hopefully never will. But he did a lot of hurt here.
I can try harder to stop the nonsense, however when I do, it seems to backfire to an extent, as the active members we do have get upset that action was taken, that political threads are fine, don’t cause any issues, etc. I’m then stuck between a rock and a hard place. Just very frustrating to see the site dying like this.

You attract who you advertise to, I mean whoever runs this site. That's my only answer. I do genuinely think the tolerance given to what's discussed on this forum is what makes this forum better than social media or other forums, in a way. I think that's this forum's niche, but maybe I'm just projecting what I want. In the age of mass censorship, not censoring non-audio topics is an attribute that can lead to deeper community ties between members, but that freedom is going to come with natural consequences. Is anybody even a paying vendor on here hardly anyways? Maybe just let audio companies do shit for free to drive up traffic. Idk how all of that works, though. Not what I like to concentrate on with my life haha

If you could make posts in here contingent on posts in other areas, that might be a good solution. That would have definitely cut down on those endless exchanges between THX & Rob, which were really no longer even about politics. Perhaps those of us participating in the Thunderdome can "promise" to post equally outside the Dome on "Scout's Honor." I'll certainly make the effort if helps the forum.

Sounds kinda similar to when CAF died (Car Audio Forum, not Car Audio Forumz). The mods were barely present so a few of the older members kinda took over and we would run off newer members if they acted stupid. In hindsight being hard on the newbies is probably the #1 reason CAF.v1 is no longer around. How to get this place on the uptrend is a hard question to answer. Maybe reach out to dealers and create dealer sub forums, but traffic is so low already would the dealers even bother? We will end up telling people in the dealer forums, "Try catching so-so over at DIYMA?"

We don't agree on much, but I agree this is better than social media (or I'd be on some lame Facebook page) and F' censorship. The censorship I see elsewhere on the intrawebz pisses me off. And despite Musk acquiring X, it's not getting any better. Since the Covid censorship campaign, we now have people publicly calling for censoring anything that hurts their little feelings.

There used to be many paying vendors with their own forum here, including diyma. The main caraudio.com front page had a top 10 list of paying car audio sites. But as traffic dwindled, so did they. Searches had a hand in this, as they demoted forums over car audio shopping sites. We were #1 for the term car audio for years and years, now we may be in the top 100 or so. People also used to type in domains in browsers, now they only use searches. Remember when the huge internet sites wanted to rid the internet of the small sites? They didn’t want anyone typing an address in their browser, as it was deemed unsafe. This also hurt.

Another idea. Could it be that SPL as a whole is dying out? SQ, which diyma tends to cater more to seems to be doing just fine. As cars these days have become more complex, it’s harder to install a huge system, or just not wanted, with more leases, etc? Can‘t stay off tic-tac long enough? Just doing a small update to their system may be the popular thing. Who changes out their head unit these days, for example? Not nearly as many. Just an idea of mine that SPL is becoming a thing of the past. Not sure how to steer caraudio.com more toward SQ.

Maybe reach out to shops or companies who do work on that kind of thing? Idk, I really don't.

If the traffic ever comes back to the site, they will naturally come also. Maybe I should reach out to Trump or Biden to advertise in the meantime?
Lol.

Politics is in everything. The world is actually really crazy right now, and politics affects everything in real life, unfortunately, so, the seriousness of all that's going on is sort of presenting itself in all facets of life. I mean, it is even in big corporations themselves. Haha, what all does Google support or not when it comes to Trump or Biden? You know? Google is the furthest from innocent. The political realm, the fight over power, and, most importantly, the masses's perception of reality, has lead to that becoming a center focus for many, many people, and not just idiots arguing in the Internet. Idiots are also arguing with the force of billion dollar, multi-national corporations for "their side," so, it might just be the way the world is now, to some extent. The world is changing fast, like the AI systems that are coming, and that'll do who knows what to all of life. Society is changing fast, people are on edge.

You are right. Google is right up there with the rest of the large companies out for the last buck, no pun intended lol. The larger they get, the easier it is to make AND keep it, via lobbyists, court proceedings, law changes, etc. I was in on a large anti-trust ruling involving unfair business practices of Google. Of course, we won, but the proceedings far under-weighed the profits they made doing their dirty work. Rinse and repeat.

Well, Google is working on quantum computers to predict the future far enough in advance to be able to introduce new events before that future to change the actual unfolding of reality, so I think Google is a force that runs deeper than we might be able to imagine.
