Who is really responsible for inflation?

You are right. Google is right up there with the rest of the large companies out for the last buck, no pun intended lol. The larger they get, the easier it is to make AND keep it, via lobbyists, court proceedings, law changes, etc. I was in on a large anti-trust ruling involving unfair business practices of Google. Of course, we won, but the proceedings far under-weighed the profits they made doing their dirty work. Rinse and repeat.
I got $3 for the class action against Intuit/Turbo Tax who screwed me out of ~$2-300 with deceptive pricing practices.

DIYMA is busy because they have mods that have powers and can stop a lot of nonsense that happens. DIYMA also has people that are constantly selling there daily. Thousands of dollars of products are sold sometimes in a day there through private transactions. DIYMA just has a lot more to offer overall right now across the board.

CAF that place is nothing more then a warzone especially in the OT. The owner is a known Trumper which is fine and all but if you have a differing opinion forget it. The wolves attack you from all corners and it is pretty much a free for all there. I want nothing to do with a place where it is like that.

Here it isn't as busy because over the years a lot of the members have left because of getting out of car audio, moving on to DIYMA or some other reason.

One reason why some members have left is because the ones that have the title "Moderator" have no powers at all to do anything. That was a complaint from one of the mods a few times here in OT around 2-3 years ago. They just gave it up. Hell it didn't help matters that a certain member named Slo claimed the site as his own, would run off new members, constantly instigate people if he didn't like their name, posts or questions, he posted ****** **** in the one thread multiple times. He knew he could get away with what he wanted so he did. Thankfully he left 2 years ago and hasn't been back and hopefully never will. But he did a lot of hurt here.
Funny though, when we had active mods, lots of times they either didn't do their job, or went overboard and ran off members. The last couple mods did have powers but for the past year or more didn't do anything to mod. Reports would come in and I would be the one to handle them. Yes, they did have power to do their job recently. Perhaps not enough in the distant past, but that was when we were getting lots and lots of traffic and ridiculed for almost every moderator move made. As I've said, I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.

I've tried hard lately to bring the site up and take a harder stance on issues, but as we all know, it's not doing any good...

Is there much you can change when there are ~dozen core members and maybe ~dozen who come and go? It'll be hard to build the site back up. Ultimately, if it's posts in the audio sections, there is little you can do beyond encouraging us to post there. Where I see a difference here compared to other sites I used to frequent is a "CDT ES vs Hertz Mille vs Dyn Audio" thread could go on for 10 pages, but here that same thread is 10 posts. Subjectively, I'd say the 10 post version is actually the superior thread. I'm not going to argue with Buck for 10 pages that Dyn Audio are indeed superior to Hertz and will have a deeper wider sound stage, etc, etc, etc.

If you're living in any major city (especially left coast), $150k doesn't go far at all. And if you move to a rural area, those $150k jobs are non-existent. It's crazy, but we have doctors and nurses that are struggling to make ends meet.

I don’t really know a lot more atm. Maybe change the domain name, to perhaps give the site a clean slate with Google. I think once you get on their dirty side, there‘s no coming back, as far as getting listed in their searches. Maybe sewingmachineforum.com would be a better fit than caraudio.com?

Google's endgame is to f*ck everyone, fyi. Better now than later, maybe. They clearly use their ad monopoly to control free speech. What's anything worth if everything is determined by one large and corrupt corporation? What's life or anything worth, then?

Do you know how site traffic is trending now as apposed to say when it was "popular"? Are there numbers to look at?

That's why I'm all for breaking up these megaopolies. Amazon, Google, Meta, Reddit, et al.

Yes of all things, Google Analytics, that measures site traffic etc. The “useful content uplate” google rolled out in September really hurt traffic, as they found caraudio.com not useful for folks looking for car audio info. Makes sense to me, wbu?

I guess it depends on how google is measuring "useful content." How many people come here and don't get concise, accurate and useful information regarding their question? I'd say almost 100% of the people that come here with questions get a "useful answer." If google is looking at the fact that the off topic threads are busier than the on topic ones, then google is using a poor metric to measure "usefulness." If that's what's killing CA's ranking, then I guess you're kinda forced to shut down the off topic threads as a Hell Mary attempt to turn things around.

I just think this style of forum doesn't always do well on the intrawebz. I was in a Bersa Thunder (handgun) forum that died. It was clearly the best place to get info on Bersa handguns, there were armorers in there, take down and modification videos, etc, etc, etc, but that forum still died a slow death. On top of that car audio is pretty niche.

Google doesn't like people who can form their own opinions. Maybe you should just make this site a dark altar to appeal the underworld entities that run Google lol

I remember through the 90's how popular car audio was. I frequented many shops in several states. The cars back then were easier, I think, to install in. Now everything has to have some kind of integration if you want aftermarket stuff or the vehicle may not run right. I don't know, maybe people......... maybe younger people just don't care about car audio like us older folks.

I think most people have just lost interest in anything that you do outside of a screen. It's not just car audio but like anything that requires real skill. It's the same line as how we don't really manufacture much, most jobs are service jobs, stuff like that. Cars are like a jungle gym of screens for toddler adults, where they just wanna completely enslave you with driverless cars you have to rent, because you'll own nothing and be happy, not really have any value as a human, just be a unit in the machine.
