Who here works in an office? come hither.

I work for verizon in engineering and for work either I have a sh!t load or none at all. Got four jobs right now but can't work on them till somethings go through the system.
That's how it is alot of the time; you have plenty of work to do but can't do it/finish it until someone in a less important (and thus lazier) department gets something to you.

i work for eng company and a lot of times im busy but just for like 5-6 hours out 8 hour work day. But for the past 3 months i have been just sittin my *** on a chair and browsin net (40% time) or playing COD2 multiplayer (60% time).
yeah boring (not COD2) but as long as im getting paid its ok
dude.......getting paid....to play cod.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif thats freakin rad.

I used to work for VZ as well, took the RIF package back in November. You working at the tech center on fletcher? I still know a few people there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Back to the subject however, yes, downtime happens, and I use it to post wh0re when possible. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
No I work in Lakeland which sucks cause I live in Lutz/Land o' Lakes. Im a drafter and the youngest one here in this building which is like a dungeon no windows ftl //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. There is talk about another RIF soon but Im a contractor so safe for the moment.

decent view of what?
Michigan Avenue, Southfield Freeway, Lion's training facility, The Rouge complex. Dearborn, MI essentially.

Occassionally someone will go by on a crotch rocket being followed by police. In the winter its fun to watch people spin out on Michigan Ave.

yeah we were pretty busy last week, but this week is just SLOW so far. I hope something comes up soon, i dont know how much of ca.com i can handle.

....wait... what am i saying.

Maybe i'll read up on fiberglass how-to's or something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

thats my "deskicle" since its a bit more than a "cubicle"

I do 13 hour days with about 2 hours of actual work, first few years it was great nothing to do but a shitload of browsing, then spent a year addicted to CS, then I found a few forums including CA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It does get boring sometimes but I just go out and sometimes learn some new PS or web design stuff, watch a few movies or even nap. From about 5:00PM-11:00PM I sometimes go down the hall and nap on the couch in the lounge for 2-3 hours at a time as no one is here after that.

I work in a datacenter which is ALWAYS freezing to keep servers and shit running cool but after 5:00 its just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have pondered going somewhere else, I could probably make more $$$ but others who used to work me have left getting more demanding and stressful IT jobs have all told me they wish they never left so I will just ride the train until someday when they probably go bankrupt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Toasted, that was my last job lol, working from 2-11pm at a datacenter/helpdesk... we got about 4 calls a day lol. I even nailed my fiance on the desk next to mine when it was only us there haha :p

In fact I am pretty sure everyone else who works here (We are a group of 4) has done the same, at least the guys have fessed up to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do you guys get a lot of downtime?
I'm interning for an engineering company (so i guess i can't really do as much as a standard employee). The last two weeks i've been here i've been helping write a proposal for some contract with the DOT.

anyways, we "finished" on friday, this week its being taken to a conference for review, then it is due next week.

And as of the last two days, i've done absolutely nothing, except write a job description for a sister company and an application for other interns, oh and took a company truck to get a new power steering fluid pump put in.
Where are you interning? I, too, am an intern - engineer for Eaton's Eletrical group
