Who here has listened to a JL 13.5 w7?

I really liked the sub and the idea of a 13.5" sub was diffrant.

Over all i was not impressed but I was happy with the output.

The price is a bit much, if it were in the $400-500 range it would be a better deal.

Im not trying to say all JL is overpriced but you can buy 2 ID max subs or 4 fi Qs for that price.

cliffs: I would buy the sub is it was cheaper but for $1000 I expected MUCH more

You know, a place where you can rent subwoofers would be wonderful. lol.

Don't get me wrong, the subs do get pretty loud. I wonder if theres ever a time when you just accept that what you have is good enough and just be happy.

Maybe I should just juice em up more. Jl updated their site, says a 13 w6v2 takes 750W rms now supposedly. I'm giving them 500 each as of now.

Plus I think maybe I should try a different box design. I've been told that ported will be louder, but not go as low.

Yeah, I've been doing that for awhile. It's difficult to make up my mind without being able to hear any setups. I know that I want something that can get louder/lower than my two w6v2's, and obviously cheaper than the w7. I enjoy punchy bass for stuff like linkin park, but I also love some deeeeep sounding rap songs. I figured I'd be going sealed so I can maintain that punchyness for alternative rock.
Since I'm selling the 1000/1, I'd be up for a new amp as well, so more juice is a possibility. I don't know how much higher than 1000 I want to go though, as I dont have any dimming right now just on my stock batt/alt.

I guess I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too. Louder/Lower on the same wattage?
SSA ICON... end of story

you pay the shipping and some rent, and you can try anything I have. If you break it you buy it though.

I have AQ, Critical Mass, Sundown, RD, DC, and JL

If you're willing to blow that kind of money, go for it. There are better subs for the money though.
Depends on what you look for that will determine "better". Most of it is subjective.

As to the OP inquiry, I own 13w6. While not a W7, there are many similarities by the acounts I've read.

From various reviews, including one by my close friend and sales associate I've been dealing with for 10 years in car audio, the W6 has better SQ than the W7. I personally love my W6. Sounds phenominal, and beats hard enough for me and others around me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. The W7 with higher power handling and slight increased surface area due to how the foam is done, produces more SPL.

While it's NOT an SPL sub, it's "the" SPL sub produced by a company that doesn't specialize in the department. Follow what I'm saying? In Short, it's a high power handling SQ sub that can oh by the way can get loud, louder than any other sub produced by JL.

If you're concerned with meter reading, I'd look else where as there other better suited at that for more than likely less money. If you'd like near perfect musical reproduction and great quality sound with the ability to beat pretty hard, you'd be hard pressed to find many sub's with similar performance numbers and "ear" test results. Notice I said many. There are some other great choices in the are JL's products specialize. Morel, Image Dynamics, Hertz, SSA Icon are a few.
