Who here has listened to a JL 13.5 w7?

.. and what was your opinion? Just curious. A lot of people say that theres better for the money and all but out of how many of those people have heard both?

I'm trying to find someone local who has a 13 w7 setup, and someone who has something else (re or something) so I can actually tell which way to take my next setup (coming from two 13.5 w6v2s)

to be honest i'm not sure if i would dislike having less SQ or not for more spl. sigh so confusing.

If you're willing to blow that kind of money, go for it. There are better subs for the money though.

well the guy at the shop told me that its supposed to be the best. for like 1000 bucks i forgot how much he wanted to sell it to me for.

keep in mind that the system you listen to will more than likely be in a different car than yours, and the install is more than likely going to be different. Systems are 10 the equipment and 90% install. Basically a W3 could kick a W7s *** if the W3 is installed correctly and the W7 not. I am not trying to add to the confusion, Just keep all the variables in mind.

There is great advice to be had right here on CA. use the search button read up, then ask questions. there are definately better options than the W7 (not to say it isn't a great sub) but for the money there are much better options. ID MAX for example

Yeah, I've been doing that for awhile. It's difficult to make up my mind without being able to hear any setups. I know that I want something that can get louder/lower than my two w6v2's, and obviously cheaper than the w7. I enjoy punchy bass for stuff like linkin park, but I also love some deeeeep sounding rap songs. I figured I'd be going sealed so I can maintain that punchyness for alternative rock.

Since I'm selling the 1000/1, I'd be up for a new amp as well, so more juice is a possibility. I don't know how much higher than 1000 I want to go though, as I dont have any dimming right now just on my stock batt/alt.

I guess I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too. Louder/Lower on the same wattage?

had a 13w7 in a pro-wedge box. It was ok, but got kinda muddy when it came to the double bass found in a lot of rock music. I was much happier with a few other setups. My x-12 sealed at 1.75 cubes blew the w7 out of the water in sq. My current setup with the tc oem is almost on par with output, but still keeps it's sq. Just somthing to think about.

It is a quality sub, it gets loud while still being extremely accurate, theres alot of hate for jl on this forum, most of the people who trash the product have never used it. Alot of people here will just reccomend the same thing everyone else does w/out ever hearing it. The price is the only downside to that sub.

I've personally had the 12 and my friend has the 13 currently. My Treo SSI15 hangs right with him, and is louder in some areas. He has a bit better low end extention than I do, not a lot, but he does win in that area. The 12 I had cannot compare to his 13 though. To me, the 13 is a bit too muddy sounding, but thats just my personal taste. My sub and his were run in the same car.

Its a great sub, please don't get me wrong. I've heard three 13s in Tahoe and it was insane. Good sub, bad price. I've been that route and wouldn't go back, but my taste and yours are two different things.
