health insurance is free
dental is $12 for my wife and I

vision is $10

My job that I work for in college provides legit insurance. It's free health, dental, and vision is 7 bucks a month.

i got ins. but my wife dont. in MA now you have to have ins or be fined at tax time. cant wait to see what that is going to be

I canceled my health insurance 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I've only been to the doctor twice since (both times for the same eye injury) and got crazy discounts for NOT having insurance. When the eye specialist found out they knocked the bill down to $30. Yes that's correct, only $30 for a visit to the eye specialist.

Lucky.

I would have gotten ***** if I didn't have insurance when I hurt my back.

Therapy 3 times a week at $150 a pop. MRI, x-rays, medication.

Without my insurance I would be dead *** broke.

What is going on in DC is scary for everyone right now. Our health care system needs fixing, but this MASSIVE plan Obama has in store for us all , is going to fail. We can't afford the health care system is proposing.

Our standard of living will keep going to down are eventually we will be a banana republic for all the national debt we are in.

I'm in taxachusetts, your looking at insurance around $200-500 a month. If you don't pay you get fined about a grand. Better off paying the fine if she doesn't get sick often.

Tommy, what happened to your back? was it a sudden occurance?

the reason I ask is because im just curious if its something you could have put off until you had insurance, had you not had it in the first place...

i'm just trying to justify not having it for a few months if I want to get a new job (might take a little bit to find one)

Definitely couldn't have put it off. I was working around the house, lifted something funny, felt a weird kinda tingling pain and thought nothing of it.

Two days later I couldn't sit in a chair or bend over to put my socks on or tie my shoes. Trying to sit normally in a chair was impossible. I had to have my mom put on my socks because I couldnt bend over.

Went to the doctor and after a few x-rays and an MRI was told that I had two herniated discs, one of which was pinching the sciatic nerve in my left leg. Terrible, terrible pain.

After a few weeks of physical therapy, traction, and some medication I began to regain some mobility and flexibility. I'm still not 100% by any means (this originally started in 2007), but I'm a HELL of a lot better than I was. I would be even better if I kept up my gym routine and started doing my stretches again.

Granted it was a freak occurence and could have been avoided had I been more careful, but that holds true for 99% of injuries that require medical care.

bwahahaha, a lot of sob stories in here. Glad I work for the state, we have the best and cheapest insurance. i get stuff done just cause now. Snoring? I think I'll get a $3500 sleep study for no reason and pay $25. Sprain my thumb playing ball? $5000 ER visit with xrays and stuff for $30.
