my first sub was a 12in 05 l7 in a kicker prefab box and a pioneer deh-p6700mp hu that i still have ,kenwood excelon amp, and a rf cap, all rf wiring:D i just decided too wait and buy something that would be worth it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Xplodes are not that bad! They can sound down right decent when installed properly, I stress properly... But if you get your jollies from senslessly bashing them, carry on.

like its been said, people who don't spend all their time on ca.com and those with a small budget. We all have to start somewhere, I'm sure everyones first purchase wasn't their best or last.

its a basic sub... for 100$ thats pretty **** good for going to Best buy/ Circuit city/ walmart/ and so on... my 2 10's that i still have was my first and it put some subs to shame cause the box and the power i had on them.

i had 2 10" xplodes for my first setup. my dad got me them for xmas. my neighbor built a box, and simply drilled a hole right in the box and called it a port. i didnt know any better, so i thought nothing of it. lol.

xplodes arent that bad of a sub....

My first setup was a bazooka EL series 10 in a slotted vent box with an EL300.1 amp to it... quite nice for a first setup... that is until a walmart bag took hold of my port and wouldnt let the sub breathe, killing it.... that or just that i ran it really high for about 6 hours on a long road trip... there was a nice plume of smoke when i opened my trunk that night lol... then i gave myself some experience in teh crappiness of audiobitch flame series 10's.... then after i blew that up (cuz it was ghey) i dug up some really old school kicker substation 80 8" tubes we pulled out of a car years ago (these must have been early 90s subs!), and those things rocked... come to think of it, theyre still sitting in my room... i need to fix one of the tubes though, i dropped it and the front baffle came off...

My first sub was a 10" Rockford Fosgate "series 1"Tell me I'm not old school. Most have never even heard of that one.
The setup that got me interested in aftermarket car audio to begin with was a mid-80s VW Fox coupe walled inside with four RF Series 1 15s on some model or another HiFonics amp with MB Quart drivers and Yamaha amplification for mids/highs. It was stupid loud in that lil ass car.

Regarding the Xplods ~

Everyone, either due to budget and/or knowledge level, has to start at the beginning when it comes to any hobby. The almost incurable addiction we call car audio is no different. Xplods sell to novices because Sony invests mucho dinero into marketing to get their brand recognition levels on up there with consumers; novices and advanced users alike.

They fill the niche desired by the targeted demographic. Those who may not know that their money would most likely be best spent elsewhere will buy Xplods. Eventually will they want something bigger, better, nicer? Certainly. But until they get to that point Sony has already collected some change from them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Do that enough times and you've made a profit!

This is pretty funny, because a few months back my girlfriend sat in her coworkers boyfriends ride. She said it had a custom install and looked and sounded hella clean. She even took pics on her phone. I looked at them, and I tell her those are xplods and they **** *** and the guy wasted a custom install by getting that shit. Then I did a search for xplods at SD and here, pointed her a bunch of threads about xplods, and she was like "ohh, I didn't know. It sounded nice though!"

Xplods are nothing special, but it's all in the install.

I started out with a cheapass MTX 10" that I blew within a day with a 600 watt kenwood amp. The amp was a hand-me-down I bought from my friends sister. The amp eventually crapped out after a few months. I had my hands on a few old school rockfords which were ok, and then I got suckered into buying a real no-name brand sub.

I learned after that. I haven't owned too many subs, but I've worked with many subs doing a few installs, owned PPI pro flat pistons, e15a's, xxx, and now an avalanche.

Like it was said, you gotta start from somewhere.

I put my trust in others and did rather well.. My first sub/amp combo was 2 JL 10W4's and a PG XS 300.... then I got a Shiva.... which I just sold to someone to replace thier Xploder.... also on installs I had no idea how much output that shiva had until I hooked it up to demo it. I had it on a SS rubicon getting 200w forever and when I demoed it I ran it at 350w on a zapco and it about made my eyeballs fall out...

my first setup was 2 10 xplodes in a sealed box. Only about 150 watts each and they were decent for the money. They did have pretty bad sq at higher volumes and they would hurt your ears more than sound good. Kinda too punch and lacked the low end. Still good decent loud speakers for the money though. But I think the CVRs are way better subs and they cost about the same.

They can get pretty loud in the right box actually //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.For the $30-$50 or so that you can pick them up on ebay for, they're pretty nice.
