You don't truly understand American slavery then, nor what came after it. American slavery was far more brutal than slavery in any other country throughout history. Sharecropping was slavery under a different name. Black people were excluded from buying houses in certain areas, forcing them into the inner cities. Poor educational facilities and not enough jobs created the huge amount of crime we have now.
I'm not saying that we should baby them and take care of them, but racism was institutionalized to such a level that the after-effects are still very hurtful even when the practices themselves have been abolished. Once we get the education system fixed EVERYWHERE, and create enough jobs everywhere, we might finally even things out.
