which would you take bigger diamond or smaller diamond better quality?

Horse shit, you would need a loom to see it.
I ahve a $6,000 loose diamond that when I sit it next to my wifes other diamonds that cost 1/3 of the amount, you can't tell any difference other than size.
I paid $1000 for my wifes ring, before we bought it we went into Boston and went to the diamond exchange and he showed us a 1/2 karat that was good quality and a 1.5 karat that was low quality but about the same price (I think it was a tad more) but I could see the inclusions and foggy area just looking at it closely.

I am not diamond expert but I can tell you I could see the difference so I dunno maybe it was just really bad.

DIAMOND CLARITY SCALE

FL (Flawless) - IF (Internally Flawless)

Flawless Diamonds reveal no flaws on the surface or internally are the rarest and most beautiful gems.

Internally Flawless Diamonds reveal no inclusions and only insignificant blemishes on the surface under 10x magnification.

VVS1 - VVS2 (Very, Very Slightly Included)

Very difficult to see inclusions under 10x magnification. These are excellent quality diamonds.

VS1 - VS2 (Very Slightly Included)

Only looking through a 10X loupe can pinpoint the inclusions in this category and are nearly impossible to see with the ***** eye. These are less expensive than the VVS1 or VVS2 grades.

SI1 - SI3 (Slightly Included)

Diamonds with inclusions easily identified under 10x magnification. Finding flaws in this category with the ***** eye is difficult. The gems in this category maintain their integrity, depending on the location of the inclusions.

I1 - I3 (Included)

Diamonds with inclusions which may or may not be easily seen by the ***** eye. The flaws on the stones in this category will have some effect on the brilliance of your diamond.

the main problem i am seeing from the 1.75 is its got a foggy look to it..like snowy..and usually on websites the stuff always looks good until you get it at home in your hands..and if you can see how bad it is on a site i can only imagine how bad it will actually be in hand..

Well truth be told, that I2 is at the bottom of the list, if you were in the SI rating my theory would be spot on, but the mid to bottom of I is almost still COAL:laugh:

For the same money you could get a slightly smaller stone and be in the SI rating where you can't see the imperfections with out a loom.

which is why im going with the smaller vs2 one..lol

Ahh ok, I like the smaller first one a lot. Would get it over the bigger one with flaws. As someone else said with a diamond that big chances are you will be able to see the flaws pretty easy.
The last one is ok, not sure how old this person is but I think any women

I agree. My wife personally prefers princess cut. That Marq. cut just reminds me of old people.

I used it as a example, not to brag, Dumbass
haha I know man just busting your chops, srsly though you can see some of which are really the low low grade ones that they won't even sell at the mall retailers.

Also I do not think I would personally buy a diamond online. You can get something that cheap or cheaper at a local diamond place and get to see it first before you buy.

There is a local place to me called Jewelry Exchange, I looked quickly and they had this which seems like a good price at $699

they dont tell you the color or clarity though..but $699 is a steal to be honest.. some of there others are I1 in clarity i think id pay the extra $200 for the vs2

I don't think they are that bad, to be honest I don't really pay that much attention to to that but I have gotten a few good deals there on diamonds and they all look good to me under the scope and I have seen shitty and good diamonds, I can't really judge the quality myself but I know they were pretty clean.

It could be worth a shot if you have a small place like that around, they are usually better than the chains and pretty close or as good in price.

ya i have a jewelry exchange here in Illinois villa park, i'll give them a call in about 4-5 hours when they open up and see what the specs are on that ring...$700 is a sweet price for that ring..

I was looking at a bigger diamond myself, but ended up getting the smaller one. Not due to the price or too many flaws in the bigger one (Which all diamonds have flaws), just due to her not wanting a big guady ring. She likes the smaller rings, which in a way I am lucky, because I basically saved 1000 dollars, even though I would have spent it if she wanted me too. Glad she didn't go that route though, lol!

Ended up blowing it all and some on the honeymoon anyway!

Also the bigger one was 1c to her's, which is 1/2c. I got mine at Reeds going out of business sale for a nice price.
