Why Does My Computer Not recognize my SD Card?

short story, I had a 1gb card for my cell phone, switched to a 4gb SDHC card, phone recognizes both, computer recognizes the 1gb one only

tried updating driver to no avail. Im using the integrated sd card reader in my dell xps m140 laptop.

Does it want to reformat it when you put it in or does it not recognize it at all?
