which would be louder?

im looking into getting multiple subs instead of just pushing one and blowing it up like i did. so im thinking either 2 12" or 4 6.5". these will be shallow mounts. the 12"s will be either rockford or pioneer, and the 6.5"s will be kicker. so what would be louder? could i figure that the 12"s would be like a 24" woofer and the 6.5"s be a 26" woofer? or what about some 8"s? and which get lower in the frequency range? just looking for some opinions. thanks

i would go with the 12s. Ive never heard anything smaller than a 10 that actually sounded good, or was even worth installing
lol. you either never installed much, or never did it right. 8's hit just as low as any other sub. 6.5 inch subwoofers aren't too bad either.

ive never installed any of the good shit like we have on here (dd, re, fi, etc.) other than in my own car. Just shitty mainstream stuff for people like kicker, sony, etc. Ive heard good things about the dd 8s too. Just never heard them in person. Actually thought about getting some one time just for the wow factor of 8s. Whats the price and power handling on them? Smallest sub i installed was a pair of no name 8s for a guy, they were getting 400 rms and sounded horrible IMO. Think they were some speakers he pulled out of a home stereo or something lol. 8 ohms each //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

6.5 * 3.14 squared = 166612 * 3.14 squared = 2839
thats the diamater you need to do the radius squared

or do 12/2 to find the radius, and square it (6x6) x pi (3.14) its like 113 square inches, and you have two so its like 226, and 4 6.5s have like 132 square inches

probably. i had a pair of cerwin vega 8's that were ok. the kicker 8's work ok. jbl, JL and even polk makes ok 8's. DD and some others are in a different class, price wise and quality wise.

6.5 * 3.14 squared = 166612 * 3.14 squared = 2839
wat is that? thats not the cone area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Radius x Radius x Pi

6.5" woofer:

3.25 x 3.25 x 3.14 = 33.16 square inches (x4 = 132.64)

12" woofer:

6 x 6 x 3.14 = 113.04 square inches (x2 = 226.08)

pi(r^2)

go back to middle school son

ive got a pending install with 2 RE SE 15s, how do you think the 1508s would compare to those? And how many 8s can i get for 300$ ?
stick with the 15's. you'd have to buy too many 8's to make up for cone area to stick under budget, and still have enough to get a decent sub.

... wat?

There are a hell of a lot of 8" subwoofers that get incredibly loud and low
dayton reference 8's have an fs of 27hz. they get plenty "low". no matter how much you tell people, they won't believe it, until you trick them into guessing that you have 12's after hearing it.
