My past 2 cars have had tint below legal limits. First was a caprice w/ 20 all around w/ a dark maroon int. From what i remember it looked good but the cops hated me.

Second was a marquis w/ limo in the rear window and 20 on the rest..Tan int. A bit to dark and ****** backing up anywhere.

Now i WANT to stay legal with this car (35) but between my tan int and sunroof (always leave the shade open) it would almost make no diff imho. I'm thinking the 20% w/ the int color and s/r it would be a little less suspect by the cops as to how dark it could be with say blk int.

I do travel to chicago once and awhile and they do not follow illinois law reguarding tint. "Home rule" applies. You can be parked w/o anyone in the car and they'll still give you a $250 ticket on you're windshield. So that means 0 tint on the front 2 windows. This does play less into my decision as i only go down there at most 5 times a year in MY car.

So which tint would YOU choose?

In AZ, we can go as dark as we want in the back windows, and I think 20-30% on the front windows, and as dark as we want on the windshield strip. If this is the same for you, then do that. Honestly, though, I want to go darker. I am gonna see if they can add another layer on my back windows, or go more on my front windows. Its just too hot!

Il law is 35% on all. But if 35 is on the fronts, 35 has to be on the rears. If tint in the rear is under 35, the max up front is 50%.

mine are pretty dark. I like it. The cops need to be observing our driving habits, not our us. I only get pulled over when I make a traffic error. I came out of Quick trip and slightly crossed the lane and proceeded into my own lane. (because I had a hotdog and drink in my hand. while turning the wheel) He suspected alcohol. He let me go and I didnt even have my current insurance card...

Yeah, i mean i've only been issued a ticket 1 time for tint. I've been Pulled over 10+ times. But as I get older the darker tint isn't as appealing as when i was younger. Practicality is more important.

If you can have darker in.the rear go 20 in.the rear and 40 or 50 in front. Or have hou thought about that clear UV blocker tint?
If i mix the tint it'll be 20 on the back window only and 35 on the sides. Cops cant meter the back glass so I could prob get away w/ it.

I went and tinted my windows the next day after I bought my truck. I kept the factory tint on and put 5% over the back window and the back side windows. Then put 20% over the front side windows. So I guess my rear window and rear sides are probably around 3-4% and my front sides are around 15%. I now wish my front sides were as dark as my others, but then again I guess since they are different, I have never been messed with about my tint. Texas laws are 25% front and rear sides and no law for the far back window. I dont have big rims or anything on my truck, so I have never been messed with. Just a stereo, Flowmaster 40's, 20" stock rims, and custom billet grill. I love Texas and Oklahoma's tint laws. Most lenient of all the tint laws of other states. We can also carry a gun in our vehicle without a CHL too thanks to the law we just past last year

My buddy got 5% all around. That thing is a pita to drive at night. Honestly I think 20% is fine, something like 10% is as low as id go. If you get lots of sunlight and 100+ temps in the summer I'd go really dark.
