edit more info: i do not have an amp yet. i am putting these subs in a 1998 grand am coupe. it does not matter if its one sub or dual at the moment. i am considering the ia 187s right now.

How about one of these instead? If you build, or buy, a ported enclosure for it you'll have more output than your other two choices.

If you are limiting your choice to these two units, I would opt for the Hifonics. However, eD has/had a decent quality sub on sale for ~$70. You might want to check them out to see if its still available.

id say go with the IA 187s there underrated they can handle at least 500rms each and one in a ported box would sound good if not the id say the 15 because you would have a little more cone area

I say save your money. Though the eD would fit your budget best. How much does the 187 usually go for though?
