which screw to use?

Prob use 4 in each sub to keep cost down. Great tip though.
Should be in the "tips to avoid getting jacked" if it isn't already. Haven't read it in a while.
"keeping cost down" on security hardware doesn't really make sense given the value of the equipment it is protecting. Using $10 in screws to protect a $500 sub seems reasonable. Using $5 in screws to protect an $800 amp seems reasonable. It's interesting how much people spend on a sub or amp but then balk at a few extra dollars in security or wiring.

If someone has a torx bit with them to steal my subs, what's the difference between using 4 and 8? If anything I'd slow them down cause they'd have to change bits. To a #2 square drive. Which is what they're already mounted with.

security torx bits come in a selection of sizes. they aren't something a standard thief carries on them. that's why sanctioning bodies (USACi, IASCI, MECA) give full points in install for their use. i also use screw caps to hide the screw head from prying eyes. thieves usually see the equipment prior to actually taking it. if someone can see you have "special" screws, they may plan ahead.

I use these green Hardi-Backer board screws that have a square bit. Usually found in the flooring section of Lowes / Home Depot....

they will screw all the way through a 3/4" sheet of MDF and hold extremely well.
