A little background: I have an 08 Impreza hatch, so I have very little trunk space. I currently have 2 amps back there plus a 12 inch sub, and they render the trunk useless. This is why I have decided to get a new 10", and re-arrange the amp placement.
I have narrowed it down to these 2 choises:
DLS Nobelium 10":
- Woofer size 10" (25 cm)
- Impedance 4 ohm x 2
- Power handling capacity 500 W RMS
- Max power handling capacity 800 W
- Peak power 1000 W
- Frequency range 25-2500 Hz
- Sensitivity 83 dB (1W/1m)
- Magnet size 180 mm (7,08"), 180 oz / 5,1 kg
- Outer diameter of woofer 266 mm (10,47")
- Mounting depth 150 mm ( 5,91")
- Mounting hole 236 mm (9,29")
- X-max +- 14 mm (0,55")
- Weight 9,8 kg (21,6 lb)
CDT Audio QES-1020:
# Frequency response 10Hz-400Hz
# Power handling: 500WRMS (1000Watt Pk).
# Impedance 4 Ohm
# Sensitivity: 84.4dB
# Mounting depth: 5.71
# Cutout diameter:9.19
# Cast frame: OD 10.19
# Cone: Mid/Kevlar-paper Honeycomb
# Magnet weight: 134 Oz stacked
# Cone surround: NB rubber
# Impedance: 4Ohm
# Voice coil: 2.6 (66mm)
# Fs: 39.8Hz
I am looking for SQ this time (the 12" is a S12L7), and from reading opinions CDT seems like a good bet, and I know DLS is good as well. Due to the fact I live in a place where high end car audio is not so prevalent, its the only good choises I have.
Based on the numbers up there, which would you get?
Oh yes, the sub will be powered by an Alpine PDX-1.600
