theoretical:

1 sealed sub = x dee bees

1 ported sub = x dee bees +3 more dee bees

math on your own from there

your moron the more cone area you have means the louder it can be also so 2 12's have less cone area than 3 12's so you ****ing do the math. Exactly how smart are you again>?

Its a different kind of sound. 2 Ported is usually louder on the longer notes because of the resonance such as rap but it also depends on what the tuning of your port is. 3 Sealed Im pretty sure will hit harder generally on bass hits in rock and such.

There are so many factors that you should research with the type of subs sizes of boxes and tuning of the port. I know this isnt a direct answer but its not a simple question.

I also read some where that ported enclosures compress the air more than a sealed i dont know exactly how that works but the source seemed to be legit.

yeah i understand that well i am going to be listening to rock and rap so im not sure which going to be louder as well but i guess sealed does hit harder form what i was told that is. Thx for reply.

i dont know cause i have always run ported boxes and my car audio shop is trying to get me to go sealed. They say they cant make it ported cause of not enough room.
