which i-pods have a built in eq?

Yeah, mine are preset, but they have a shit ton of them.

I agree it is terrible as well, but I got some kick *** headphones and 99% of the time it is hooked into my PRS-880, so just use the deck.

with itunes you can assign individual eq curves to files, which is way better than the ipod presets

Theres nothing on the market that can really compete with it now...especially in sound quality...Iriver clix comes close, but no expansion slot and more expensive, plus smaller screen...I love mine...
