which DMM to buy

everyone is going to recommend a Fluke DMM, from what i gather they are the best handheld out there, but they are pretty expensive. i don't know models or anything, i don't even have a DMM. i'm in to find some good advice also.

can anybody recommend an inexpensive DMM? like less than $75 preferably?

if your just using it on a car, the a simple craftsman will work. if u are using it for other stuff, go fluke, greenlee, or some of ideal's. trust me, the last thing u wanna do is tring to see if a circut is dead to find out it's live and u get the shat knocked outa ya. been there, done that.

Bones,

How much are you looking to spend and what are you primarily going to be using it for? I have a couple of used Flukes that I keep around for the dirty work (ie. when I don't want to dirty up my 87-III). They both have my initials burned into 'em (ie. engraved) but I could dremel them down if you wanted to buy one. I also have a mint Fluke T5 if you're interested in that.

....and a while back I posted a nice Wavetek on here (it was their top model when I bought it) along with a deluxe set of Pomona test leads (both brand new) for $125 but got no response. Hell, the test lead set alone cost me around what I was asking for both. I was trying to give someone on here a good deal but no one took it. After a week or so I threw the set up on ebay (for slightly more then what I was asking here -to cover the fees) and sold it within a couple of days.

Here are the meters that I wouldn't mind selling. Fluke 79, Fluke 75, and a Fluke T5 (the 1000V version). I'll take $50 plus shipping for the 75 and $60 plus shipping for either the 79 or T5. Like I said, the 75 and 79 both have my initials in 'em but I can take the ol' dremel to 'em and grind the initials down. The T5 is in mint condition and still has the plastic over the screen (that came on it when I bought it). No initials on that one (yet). I also have a couple more Fluke a/c clamp meters that I could part with but you're probably not interested in those. Let me know what you think.
