which amp would be best

I just benched a Massive audio N3 a couple days ago ....makes rated power ..... But I still like my OS MMATS HC's better ....I'll prob have AB ph4000md next week to test ....

That's about what that AB was making. Pretty sure they are the same amp. He swapped it out with a M1 and it killed it in every way and they do 1500-1700

I've said it over on diyma, I think these newer amps are amazing for what they cost, and the size they can get 1400-1600 watts out of. But I think/feel they lack that "DRIVE" that the older amps seem to have, especially at lower volume, and sound kinda "hollow" to me compared back to back. Same subs, same music, ect .....

Are you scoping these amps when you clamp them? Cheap amps get a lot of power clipped.

yea, I have a Hameg 60mhz 2 ch o scope .... and a sig generator that goes from -18dB to 0 dB 0 - 100,000 hz

Yea, that little N3 will make like 1600 clipped all to hell and back ...

And I have a PSU that puts out up to 500 amps ...

So it does rated clipped? If so that's not doing rated

yea, like 1400-1410 is right on the edge ... then it starts getting dirty after that ... it gains alot more power but gets nasty dirty signal fast after that .... 1600 looks like around 10% + clipped .... 1300 -1375 is a real clean signal still ....

I see this alot in the cheaper big power amps.... Like the Planet Audio amp I benched a while back.... did 1500 @ 1 ohm clean, but you could get it up to 1800 dirty ....

It is. If you look at all the cheap amps on the dyno they gain A LOT dynamic because they clip so hard very fast. There is no 2% THD. It's 1% to 10%

See, now my OS MMATS DHC1400.1 does almost all it's power @ 1% or less, but then really makes no more power, no matter how far you turn the gain up, it just gets a dirtier signal ......
