it has come down to 2 amps at the moment. I have heard that the xenon mono amps would out power the newer style amps. my sub is the mach 5 audio maw 15 (15 inch sub) and it's rated for 500 rms. I will be buying soon so advice is greatly appreciated.

all three amps are phoenix gold.

XENON 400.1

----------------------------

• High efficiency (greater than 80%) Class D Operation

• Buffered RCA full range thru output

• Remote Monitoring Display (RMD) port

• Low Pass Level control ready (LPL-44)

400 rms x1 @ 1-4 ohm

OCTANE-R 8.0:1

----------------------------

• High efficiency Class "D" monoblock amplifier

• 18dB variable LP crossover

• 18dB variable subsonic filter

• Low Pass Level port (LPL)

• Dimensions: 14.75L x 10.875W x 2.25H

800W x 1 (2 ohm mono)

max power (600 rms)

Or possibly this one but most likely not.

OCTANE-R 15.0:1

----------------------------

• High efficiency Class "D" monoblock amplifier

• 18dB variable LP crossover

• 18dB variable subsonic filter

• Low Pass Level port (LPL)

• Dimensions: 16.5L x 10.875W x 2.25H

1500W x 1 (2 ohm mono)

max power

why not just get a 600.1 since you have a 500w sub?leaves a little room for error...

and full potential of sub....

cause it's 100 dollars more average over the other amps i'm intrested in. but the r 801 puts out 600 rms...so i could get that and adjust it to wear it don't destroy my sub. and the 400.1 i guess has put out almost 500 rms at it's 2 ohm load. Phoenix gold claims it makes the most power at 2 ohms even though the description says 1-4ohm is all 400 rms. and 1501 makes 1000 rms...only reason i'm intrested in that is because i may uprage my sub some day.

Running an R15 in the GF's car that I picked up for around $220, so deals are out there. Only advantage would be room to grow if you decide on another MAW15 or a different sub that wants more power. PG tech told me the sub is 1ohm stable, but they don't advertise/warranty it at that level.

VERY solid amp as I ran it in my car for a year before it ended up in her's. You'll want the LPL though and it's $30 extra.

Phoenix Gold Underrates there power. I have the R15.0:1 which is supposed to only be 1000wRMS @ 2ohms and I was blowing subs that were 1200-1300 RMS. I would go with the R8.0:1.
