Which amp would be best for me?

No, you should be alright. If you have any questions about something when the time comes this site is here for a reason. Take your time and check over everything since it is your first time.

He probably saw DB drive and automatically said no
Must be someone who just likes just a certain brand and doesn't know much about others. DB Drive is a very high quality company who makes and assembles their products in the United States. Just find it weird for someone to say no other than not knowing much about what it is...

db drive is made in taiwan. it is highly over rated. it ranks right up there with sony xplods. its a big hit in mexico...that should tell you something. i had a db drive 1500 and it pushed about 500 watts. had 2 30 amp fuses and claimed 1500 rms. straight bs, theres a reason its cheap. look it up. there isnt much literature on them but the ces report on them said they werent worth touching "swap meet crap" as he stated it.

edit: they are assembled in the us, the parts are taiwanese. IMHO stay away.

Lol, you are correct on the typical product from them. However If you knew more about DB Drive you would know that all their competition equipment they have to offer is indeed built in the United States only a few parts used are from Taiwan. The competition equipment include WD and WDX for subwoofers, and PT, PD, and the Okur 7500.1 for the amplifiers. I have my WD subs currently getting reconed to dual .9 ohm Team DB Drive voice coils (nothing is wrong with them now just looking to have a lower impedance load available from the the D2 ohm that they had.) My WD's have seen 156 decibels in USACi competition off a Term Lab before I bought them from a Team DB Drive competitor. Where the competition products are built is Harlingen, TX. You can also have these products custom built for you personal needs, which is why I'm having my WD's built with Team DB Drive D1 (.9) ohm recone. Now these subs can see 3krms daily each and 20k tone burst each. My amp is amazing and don't want to sell, but the only reason I consider it is to get the Okur 7500.1. Danny Hays, with Team DB Drive, used just 4 of these Okur 7500.1's and hit 180.1 decibels in USACi World Finals. Hmm.. So yes stay away from the cheap stuff they offer but the competition stuff is more than worth your while to invest in..

-Just to clear things up, lol

How about the sundown audio sax-1200d that work or do I need to go higher
Honestly, that would be a pretty good way to go. Are you planning on running 1 ohm load off amp? Our team Truth Hertz is sponsored by Team DC and Team Sundown so we have experience many of their products.. Very good stuff and under rated. That is definitely a good option to consider..

Ive read up on these things and I want to get the best I can out of them without breaking the bank. I have to do a lot of reading up on how to wire them correctly for that. So yes thats what I want, I just have to figure out how.

ive heard this before. either way. if they let their name get soiled by any product they make id stay away, they obviously arent about quality. id go with a more consistent brand but to each his own. either way the general opinion is to stay away. no review has had one good thing to say and some ven stated that they skipped them and didnt even bother. just my .02

Completely respect your opinion! I just wanted to state that all of their products aren't of poor quality.

How much are you looking to purchase the SAX-1200D? Reason for asking is because you can get an Audioque AQ2200D new for $389.00 which is a great amp for a good price for the underrated power it provides.. Just another option I would recommend looking into.

Amplifiers

Well I was going to be getting 2 Skar VVX 12's, a custom box, and the SAX-1200d for 700. which would put the amp at like 350. So if its more worth it to get the other amp i would for the extra 40 bucks.
