Okay, so most of ya'll know that I bought new amps because I my other amps got stolen. They were all the back seat and they seemed to have easily just ripped them out. You can tell because the holes in the thin metal on the seats seem to look as it they pulled the amps....
Now, my new box is about 33"L. I am going to have the box all the way back to the seat facing the rear. I was thinking of mounting an amp on each side of the box. The amps are each 2.5"H, that'll be around 38" overall length with the box and the amps. That will work but it will leave me less than an inch of clearance....too tight of a fit IMO....
The other idea was to mount the amps on the back of the box. And, then put some extra MDF over the amps to kinda cover them up and add fans on each side of the box (one fan to blow air in and the other to blow air out)...The only problem with this is that the width of the box is only 33" and the amps together without endcaps is 33.9"L...it won't be that big of a deal once I cover the amps though....I mean it is less than an inch difference....
Now, I may decide to mount the amps directly on top of the box....the box is 17"H so I will have about 19.5" of H to work with....that's not too bad because I removed my torsion bars and I had a 20"H box before. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif So, that'll give me around .5" of clearance of so. That might work....
Another idea was to use the spare tire locatoin but I don't want to remove my spare tire. So, that I am not going to consider.....If I was building a show car this would most likely be the way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But I am building a simple daily driver....
The last idea I had was to locate the amps on each side of the rear of the car, one where the "little" cargo net is at and the other where the tire jack and equipment are located....I was thinking of using simple MDF mounted to the metal and then obviously the amps mounted to the MDF and covered with plexiglass. The down side to this is that the power wires and ground wires would have to be extended. I would just use distribution blocks and buy more wire. Not a big deal but I don't really want to go through that "simple" trouble...
Does anyone have an idea or suggest any of the above for me to do with my amps.....
