where should i get my 12 volts from for my volt meter

where does everyone hook there volt meter to ...amp power or to the battery ...should be same power at both places but not sure

I always just measured the amp, don't really care what the voltage is up front lol

It really depends on what your measuring I guess, but yes the voltage should be the same on the power for the amp as the battery

Are you sure that is true cause your current build log has your voltmeter tied into your headunit???

^^ He prob has it like me I have my stinger meter spliced into my HU's ground and remote wire and have my 12v source connected to my amps terminal

Nope - he has the same elcheapo 2 wire ebay via Hong Kong unit that I have.

I wish I had spent the extra few buck for the Stinger unit.

I am confused - you do not care what the voltage is up front but you wire your volt meter to measure the up front voltage.

I was going to run a wire all the way up front/back to get the voltage but what I did was just tap into the headunit's turn on wire (the red wire). It is activated by a relay when only the car is on and has the same voltage as whatever the alt is charging at, it's not some weak 2v signal.

I only care what voltage my amps are seeing not what my hu, batts, etc are seeing.

Has anyone tested to see if the voltage under the dash is the same as the amps?

I ran my Voltmeter to my amps but have always wondered if that was necessary.

i have mine connected to the deck ,but then adjust it to the same as the amp,seems to work pretty good for me
