Where do you buy those curved ports?

I searched and could not find the answer, somebody said it was pvc is this true? If so how do you mount it to the wood,just screw into and glue like regular wood? This sure would look pretty cool on the box im planning. Also does this have any affect?

its called kerfing.. you put mathematically placed cuts in the wood to curve it

Yep, To do those at home you "kerf" the wood. Cut on the back side of it a bunch of times about 1/4 inch apart or whatever it works out to be. And just partially through the material and it will bend.

ya they are flared ports.. thats wood.. they kerf it like i stated previously

It reduces port noise by easing the transition between compressed air and open air... and it looks cool.

I read a tutorial somewhere on how to figure out how far apart and how many cuts. Wish I should remember where so I could link it for ya. Maybe some one knows and will link it.

I hear its not hard, you just have to know how to set your circular saw so it doesn't cut all the way through the wood

anybody know how far to cut in i've got some scrap mdf layin around from my last box build. I'm just tryin to find something cool to do with this next box. Then maybe ill keep this system longer than a month or two lol

Well...If you do it right in the cuts per radius amounts when you bend it the gaps disappear and the wood becomes almost solid again. To close together and the wood has cuts and gaps and is weak. To far apart and the wood is stressed and weak. I'd google a bit and try and find the formula on cuts per inch for the different raiuses.

I'd say try 1/2", then 5/8". I think it might be 5/8".

yea wish i had a table saw and ont know anyone that has one. I just spent to much on a new pistol, and pc so can't afford anymore toys for now lol
