I have 2 Alpine 10" Type X subs wired up to 2 Alpine Alpine MRD-M1005 Amps (Links for subs & amps below)

Amp

I get a loud humming noise from the Subs when I turn up the gain on one of the Amps.

The RCA cable from the head unit is going into the Input channel on the

1st Amp.

The 2nd RCA cable is going from the output of the 1st Amp to the input jacks of the 2nd Amp.

I had the subs wired down to 2 Ohms so i could run a 1 sub - 1 amp set up

But I’m not impressed at all with the sound.

I think it sounds shit I have posted a picture of the sub box could this be the cause of the problem.

Can some one tell me where i could be going wrong ??

2 subs in one chamber, one getting more power than the other.

Sounds like a problem to me.

Get a multimeter and set your gains correctly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

To answer both questions

1) Its a dual box “Sorry I should of said that from the start”

2) Yes from both subs I can hear most of the sounds coming through the subs i.e. CD spinning song skipping in fact alot of noise

Are the amps I got sufficient for the subs and do I have them wired right @ 2Ohms?

The sound is not what I expected from the set up I’m confused???

When the gain is turned down on the amps I can barely hear the subs and I have a hatchback.

By the way I’m using 0gag cables and everything else is stock no extra battery or change of alternator.

This is my set up

IVA-W200IR

2 Alpine MRD - M1005 Amps

1 Alpine MRV - F545 Amp

Alpine SPX-17REF Component Speaker

2 Alpine SWX-1043D Subs

2 7” Alpine TME-M780 Screens

I’m thinking of getting rid of the amps and getting one of the below amps

Could be that the amps aren't getting the juice they need. Each amp makes 1000w, so 2000w on a completely stock electrical is not good news. Do you know how many cubic feet per chamber that box is? Could be the box, too. You need to at least do the big 3, and maybe add a second battery.

And don't get a powerbass 3000D; those are notorious for parts literally falling off of its board.

are both amps grounded in the same place? the amps are not touching each other are they(case to case)?sounds like a ground loop. also as far as loudness goes are you sure the subs are not out of phase?does it get louder if only 1 sub is playing?

Dragon breath

The amps are both grounded in he same place and the are sitting side by side. If i take out the RCA cable on the 2nd amp and turn up the gain on the 1st Amp the 1 sub playing gets allot louder.

Once everything is setup properly the system he already has should be pretty good. you may find that you'll need to do some electrical upgrades though with that much power

make sure the amp that gets the rca into it has its settngs and switches set correctly ( slave / master etc)

or,

i would try spliting your rca lead with 'y' leads instead of going thru one amp and onto the other amp.

to start......
