When sound deading a trunk...

My friend wants to know when he sound deadens his trunk should he put it only in the floor or on the lid of the trunk too?

the lid too... wich let me tell u by experience can be a bit tricky cuz its never really flat.

the lid and the sides. floor is not as important as teh lid n sides, that's where most of t rattle goes since they are pretty much thinner n less sturdy than the floor.

Definetly do the lid, too.

As explained earlier, most of the time your rattling problems come from the lid (sometimes the hatch, also).

yea that is mostly my probs, my lid rattles like a b1tch and the latch is some of it but im not really worried about that for now.

You can also use seam sealer (get at automotive store...that's what it's called) for the seams...especially the ones on the lid.

don't forget to spray some expanding foam into those areas you can get under. deadening does no good if it is hollow under where you just applied.

Want to know a little trick? I don't know if anyone's ever had problems with the actual latch on the trunk rattling (I have a glass gate that rattles like nothing else). The fit of the gate to the latch loosened over time, and the latch would rattle against the metal clasp thingy. I used egg-crate, which packs in really nicely when the gate closes, around the bottom of the latch to make it a tighter fit. No more rattle. It won't seal your entire trunk, but it's a really cheap way to get rid of a really annoying rattle.
