When Pyramid first came out were they

Around the late 80's believe me nearly everybody's 1rst system comprised of pyramid amps and to tell you the truth they were pretty reliable for me (in fact that is why most people had pyramid, it was the only cheap amplifier that wouldn't blow up on you within a month.. I had 3, one for each 12" MTX blue thunder sub and the other driving my rear 6x9 (typical highschooler 89' set up). But yes they were always considered low level hardware and always available at the shadiest places of business and swap meets (never actually seen a pyramid product in an actual audio store). When I finally got serious and decided to upgrade in 1990 I went with this below (and it still works and sounds great today. back when hifonics was actually and rightfully so respectable quality equipment):
