i am a cardiology tech. have been for 8 yrs. i've been bedside dozens and dozens of times to see patients out(watch them take their last breath). most of the time dr's call me in to monitor the patient heart with my ekg mechine. if they are "DNR", i tell the dr. when the pt's heart no longer has a rythem that can sustain life. at that point, dr's "call it" aka pull the plug. i'm also on the "code team"( responsible for resuscitateing pts that go into cardiac arrest). in most of these "code" cases, i am first paged to the pt's room "stat" to perform an ekg on the pt because they are haveing chest pains. sometimes, shortly after, the pt codes and dies. its spooks me sometime to know i'm possibly the last person to talk to the patient. it's saddest to see a people come into the hospital for overdose or wrecks, things of that nature and die, cause the families take it sooo hard.
said all that to say this, i feel ya bro and best wishes to you and yours.....
