As long as the government taxes smoking in order to make up for the negative externalaties that smoking imposes on society, then I'm perfectly happy. Let people do what they want. I feel that the habit is more addictive than the chemicals themselves, and that its pointless to criticize cigarette companies for giving people what they want and making them happy.

We have far bigger problems to worry about than smoking. If this was the 90s and people still weren't fully aware, that's one thing. I hate cigarettes and people who smoke them around me, but it doesn't keep me up at night.

People were aware the smoking was unhealthy at least as far back as 1912. I have a magazine I found in my grandparent's chest with an article about the harmful effects of smoking.
