What's wrong with Alpine?

I was looking at the CDA-9857 and I can't believe that it doesn't even have a HP/LP filter, plus 2V preouts (what a joke). Why is Alpine downgrading their HU?

Preout voltage isn't that important.

But I am a little surprised at their general lack of features.

It is a shame too. I have always liked their no BS appearance and their Ipod features are so tempting. But I just will not buy another until they have the other features I need.

ie: 9811/9813/9815...

I'm not af an of the looks of the newer ones, i like the simple older ones.

i got the 9857 and plan on getting an EQ...and i like the look of the two stacked on top of one another...you could always do that if you like the 9857 for the ipod control...which is amazing btw its just as fast as doing it in your ipod

from what i've heard, alpine dumbed down their HUs specifically for Best Buy to be able to market what people want- ipod capabilities. But best buy is so stupid they don't even feature the ipod controls they leave it on demo the entire time so the only selling point of the 9857 and 9856 isn't even exposed.

eclipse has all the eq functions and crossovers and other adjustments you could ever want,but to me they are to loaded to the point where if every thing is not set just right it will hurt your score,but the same goes for all the features out the arse decks.personally for drag and everyday listening i like a plain old middle of the road deck.
