what's with the cheap subs?

i live in the philippines where car audio is considerably for the rich & famous only! yeah, right. everything here is expensive not to mention that my country ranks among the world's poorest!

anyway, i have been with car audio for 10 years and have made several installs already. but unfortunately, these were all using local made gears from amps to subs. am considering cheaper US made goodies like SOUNDSTORM, PYLE, POWER ACOUSTIK,LEGACY, PYRAMID... am thinking of settling with SOUNDSTORM or PYLE. all the way from amps to subs to compoment/coax speakers. any advise you guys can give with re SOUNDSTORM F500.2 FORCE AMPS, SCW120 SUBS and their full range FORCE SERIES SPEAKERS is highly appreciated. and with PYLE ETERNAL AMPS, RED LABEL SQUARE SUBS and POWER ACOUSTIK's 5.25 COMPOS.... i would like to consider that i have a good taste but it's just that i cannot afford getting good tasting gears! thanks guys. tell me about SWISS AUDIO SAF520 coax also. thanks!

Settle for Soundstream??? I think almost anyone on here would settle for soundstream. They are quite good in my opinion. As for the others...not so much. On the cheap side, I wouldn't even really consider them. Power Acoustic is alright but nothing special. Swiss Audio is pretty good, but there is much better out there. Yeah, settle for Soundstream. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Shit...little bit of a mistake there. Feeling kinda stupid right now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

I have little to no experience with most of those brands, so I can't be much of a help.

Just know, cheap amps will usually get hot, really fast, run a light load or you'll more than likely have problems.

As for the subs I am completely lost as I've never heard nor worked with them. As you know, the majority of value in a system comes from the install. Put some time and effort into what you are planning and you can very well come out satisfied. The one thing I'd stress is not to run things hard, all items included. The stuff is built to work, and to do what it's made for (even if it does not excel in it) but however the stuff is not built for durability.

The term, you get what you pay for, can be very accurate in car audio, that's all I know. Let us know a budget if you want to, I'm sure people can suggest a setup to meet it, maybe you'll come out happier than before.
