What's With "kids" Nowdays?

I dont think anyone is tellin you to grom up, im sure not. Im 17 years old adn i like loud systems too but....... be repectful as everyone has said. Also you cant get far in life be just a follower. Try being a leader for once and see how it feels to be the one others are tryin to be like. My parents sure arent poor and have bought me a couple vehicals to drive but i finally am payin for my own vehical and it is hard but it feels so good to know it is mine, not my parents. I think you just have to beleive in yourself more and do it cuz you enjoy it. Im just throwin out thoughts, not tryin to get anyone mad.

Originally posted by Big-Cat i'm 16 years old, and i personally want a very loud system. however, i live in Jupiter, Florida. There's a lot of money down here, and a lot of the times the kid with the money has the best looking/loudest cars, hence they get all the girls. Example: 2001 Acura 3.2CL, Black with 4 Memphis 12's in the back. 2001 White Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 2 15's in the back. 2001 Infinity QX4 on 20's with 2 12's in the back. A lot of kids at my school have systems, and it's just like a way to keep up for competition. For instance, when i get my license in 5 days, my dad is buying me a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, i'll probably get 2-12 Type-R's or 2-12 Infinity Perfects. It's just a way to fit in, and not look bad. I've got a friend with a 86' Camaro with 2-10's and a lot of people don't have much respect for him and think lower of him. For us, it's just a matter of how much money our parents have to give us, and how we can show it off.

I am still young, and enjoy thumping, but respect people who don't want to hear my music. I don't thump in town, at stop lights, or near the middle of the night. Treat others as you would want to be treated.

obviously, i've stated many times before that i'm not some disrespectful punk. I'm very respectful and responcible. I would never concidering going through neighborhoods at night playing my music loud....i'd keep it to a minimum or turn it off if anything.

big cat, if you want a nice suv check into the mitsubishi montero sport. the sports are cool i just sold my and they dont have much to the doors. They are very light and sound travels right through them. I have a grand cherokee now and that doesnt have too much to it either but the montero is better for sound and the jeep grand is better for power.

tru dat! if i wanna blare my system in college, so be it, whats the difference if u got a loud system, or u have nicefurniture in ur house, its ur $, spend it how u want 2.

I would like to start off by saying i don't think it's the child's responcibility to provide food and clothes for themselves. I think that expresses neglect and laziness on the parents part
unfortunately, not everyones parents can satisfy their kids needs. my friend pays for everything himself, he expects nothing from his parents, but not because he thinks they are lazy and neglect him, but because he knows his parents dont have the money to give him the things he wants/needs, so instead, he works 2 jobs (for himself), and goes to school (to satisfy his parents). now this is what a childs responsibility is.

now, myself, i am lucky, i pay for absolutely nothing. i did not pay for my car, i dont pay for my insurance, i dont pay for gas, hell... i dont even pay for the cigarettes i smoke. but you dont see my using that as a scapegoat for anything. i still respect the community i live in by keeping it down when i drive thru residential areas, and when i'm at a red light, i will roll my windows up and turn it down if i see the person next to me look, because that type of attention is not the type of attention i want. if i wanna show off, i just drive around campus will my windows down and music blaring (although i cant do that no more cuz my "rice rocket" is too low, and anyone who has been to UCR knows how many speed bumps it has). anyways, what i'm trying to say is, dont let money get in the way of things, and dont let ur friends change u, or mold u into who you are or will be.

Big Cat, your only and hour and a half away from me. See if your parents won't mind shelling out some cash to buy me a system. I'd be more than willing to go down to Jupiter and help you out for say a nice little fee. I mean being you act like money grows on trees. Get a job, buy your own system, your own car, and see what kind of respect your parents will have for you. I have had a job since I was 14. I've mowed lawns, worked at restuarants and even worked at Walmart. Of course I'm 21 now, and I have a much better job. I bought my own school clothes, supplies, lunch, you name it I bought it. I kept my job in high school, sometimes working close to 40 hours a week plus playing baseball all year round, I also was in honors and finished school with a 3.7 GPA. My parents don't have much money, but if I need to borrow some, they always know I will pay it back, even though they tell me not to worry about it. Did I also mention I was raising a baby girl while I was in 12th grade. That's how you learn responsibility and earn respect.

i completely agree, but if one is already respectful, then why take the time to learn the lesson? I mean, i have a job now, my parents are making me pay for insurance and gas, and they're buying me the subs, amp and hu, but i've got to pay for everything else. if my car breaks i have to pay for it, it's not like i'm being spoon fed over here. but i have respect. I'm generally a quiet kid, accept for some of my classes, and i have a lot of respect for people around here, accept for the people that don't treat me with respect. I mean, i'm not a bad kid, i don't do bad things. I'm not going to go around my neighborhood blasting my music. My dad would have a fit, and so would my 90 year old neighbors. The only time i'm really gonna have it loud/blasting is at school in the parking lot, other than that i'd keep it to a standard volume level. Unless a kid tries me with his system, but that's just fun and games. So would everyone please stop giving me a hard time about being some spoiled rotten rich kid that has not respect for the world.

just one more thing...wow...this looks funny:crazy:

phatillusion i have now gained madd respect for you. I was fortunate, and i (while i am trying to change) have taken some of this for granted. My mom kept her old Corsica (AKA Ghhetto Cruizer) for me and i love to hate it. Tha enggine kinda sux but i have use of it when i need it. All i have to do is pay my gas and repairs (excet major ones). This is a good deal for me. I only have to be passing all classes to keep it. AS of right now though i have to purchase a system. My old one is dead as of now. I need all new shit and am woring to buy it. I have madd props to give to those who work for what they have. The people who have no respect for those arround them when it comes to their systems though piss me off. they lose all props when they refuse to turn it down @ 2 A>M> when i'm trying to sleep or in residential hoods. I just got props for all and cat do all of us a favor man..... learn that people like u for u. If tha girls only like u for ur system then they are conseded mofo's and u don't need them.

Lata all

I dont feel that is right to yell down this kid neck cause his dad is going to get him a vehicle and system. I understand that most dont have it like that and you worked hard for what you have today and so have i. I think its good that your dad is going to get you a car. My dad got me my first car and it was a piece of sh** Geo prizim but it got me around. Now i have full time job and just bought a 2002 chevy malibu. I know the feeling about everybody wanting the fastest car and loud system in school. I didnt even have my license in school. So didnt really matter to me. but i had some friend that would just spend money on there cars but they also saved up money for down payment in crap. I can Understand both sides but there is nothing wrong with you getting a car from your dad. Plus what hell does that have to do with your system???

I am one that believes in working hard to obtain the wants in life. I also believe that when something is acquired by these means, it is respected more.

However, if your parents are fortunate enough to have the means to provide you a car, and they wish to do so- more power to them. So long as you realize that you will have to assume full financial responsibility for yourself one day, and strive to achieve it; a gift is a gift. Some people are just a little more fortunate than others. It doesnt mean that it is bad for your parents to buy you things, a lot of parents do this because they want thier children to have a better life than them. Material Posessions are often the way this is expressed.

So long as they are giving this type of gift, you also should realize that they have a right to take back this gift, as they are the financing.- the lean holder if you will.

I think that is the main point some are trying to make here.

So you are fortunate enough to recieve the gift of a vehicle from your parents, that is fine. However, there is still no comparrison to the way you feel when you purchase your own vehicle by yourself. Call it a step towards independence or finanicial status.

I can only say this, I have not had a gift such as a vehicle given to me, however, I have purchased 5 vehicles on my own, and it is an incredible experience.

You will see for yourself once that opportunity presents itself to you. Until then, enjoy your gift, but know that it is a gift.

take it easy,

-zane
