What's With "kids" Nowdays?

I gotta agree and I am getting old in this profession too I often find myself sounding like my father did when I was 17.......27 now. I still love my loud music, but only when I am not pissing off everyone around me. The thing I learned early is sound quality is the most important thing some of these guys can't really believe their car sounds good with all that distortion......rattling ....etc. I also learned for every guy who flaunts a really nice system there are 6 other guys sitting on twice the system quality and you never "hear" it. Because it is for personal enjoyment first and foremost. If you wanna show off enter a show, you will either do well or be humbled by those of us who have put blood sweat and tears into our quality systems. As for the stickers, don't get me started........

i'm 16 years old, and i personally want a very loud system. however, i live in Jupiter, Florida. There's a lot of money down here, and a lot of the times the kid with the money has the best looking/loudest cars, hence they get all the girls. Example: 2001 Acura 3.2CL, Black with 4 Memphis 12's in the back. 2001 White Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 2 15's in the back. 2001 Infinity QX4 on 20's with 2 12's in the back. A lot of kids at my school have systems, and it's just like a way to keep up for competition. For instance, when i get my license in 5 days, my dad is buying me a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, i'll probably get 2-12 Type-R's or 2-12 Infinity Perfects. It's just a way to fit in, and not look bad. I've got a friend with a 86' Camaro with 2-10's and a lot of people don't have much respect for him and think lower of him. For us, it's just a matter of how much money our parents have to give us, and how we can show it off.

man, it must **** to be you if the money your family has plays a role in how you fit in. i say screw your friends and dont get a system so you can fit in, get one cuz you wanna enjoy it. i dont think ur system can hang up there with some of the cars. but if you wanna be the "big-cat" hehehehe... get 4 15" power hx2's and 16 fosgate 1500.1's, then u'll be impressing people at ur school, but til then, i think that memphis system is all over you, you wont be able to compete with 2 15's with type r's or perfects (assuming he has a decent pair of woofers), and the qx4 is a suped up luxury car.

Big-Cat, fitting in may be all well and good. Often times it's important for a youth's esteem, regardless of the reality of the matter (living for yourself instead of others etc). Does this "fitting in" include playing your systems in residential areas, or late at night? If you have this kind of money, why not keep the sound inside the car? If you want to be heard outside, I doubt a brand new, adiquately insulated import is the way to do it. My summer car was a 79 Fiat 2000 Spyder, and I had 1 10" in there. The car had next to no insulation, and outside it was 10X louder than my olds w/ two perfects in there.

is it me, or is this dude not getting the picture???? let me spell it out for you one last time.... if your system pisses off your neighbors, the cops will give you a ticket and/or impound daddy's new suv. get it??????? besides, there is nothing more lame than a car rolling by with every body panel rattling like it's about to fall apart. spend the dough on some quality subs AND components. make your sh** different (and thus better) than all of your buddies.

no, i repeat, NO respectable(not dogging the above) suv will be without insulation. what do you think keeps all the road and motor noise out? not to mention the cold or hot air out and the a/c and heat in? oh yea....

WAKE THE HELL UP! u don't need to spend a ton of money to have friends. if you do, well, what can i say, you have pretty lousy friends or very low self-esteem or both. u wanna spend your dad's money? fine, just don't do it to be "cool". in high school(1986-1990) i had hair to my a$$, my left ear pierced 3 times, wore "preppy" clothes(remember the tight roll on your jeans?), played football, kept straight A's, was in trouble EVERY day, and the list goes on. i wasn't just a jock, or prep, or headbanger. i was all of them because i was me. if your friends don't like u for u, get new friends.

lol its funny to see people go at it. I cant see myself typing on this subject for days but all and all people are always going to drive by your house playing music loud. There is always going to be kids in high school who want to show off systems. I say if they want to do fine. They want the ticket let them get it. ITS JUST WAY OF THE WORLD

Thats the kind of thinking I can't stand. If someone thinks lower of your friend cuz hes not driving a earthquake then he needs to find new "friends". I bet the people that "think" lower of him are just some spoiled *** loosers who wouldn't know what to do in life with out daddy ******* there nob 24/7. And if your dad is giving you all this money for a system/car and you only want it so you can "be cool" - "fit end" then why not just flush it down the shitter? Im only 16 and I pay for all my stuff... cloths, truck, gas, food, insurance, and most everything else. I have 2 10'' and 3 12'' in the back of my 95 S-10 Ext Cab (only thing I need is another amp and it will be complete).

im an '18 year old punk', and i have a system and rims, but no exhaust, cuz i want more 'boom' than exhaust. i like my system cuz its cool, and it gets u attention.. which us guys want, girls want a guy whos different, not a conformist, and not boring. so we think systems make us cool, its like buying a computer, whoever has the newest and best electronics is the coolest. and yes, when i come home at 1-2, i basically turn my system off, but when im 'pimpin' tha streets, i keep it up. peace. hope i culd shed some light... or shuld i say sound on the subject.

That sucks for you. I would like to start off by saying i don't think it's the child's responcibility to provide food and clothes for themselves. I think that expresses neglect and laziness on the parents part. secondly, this kid with the 86 camaro has more reasons that people think lower of him, it's not just his car. He's a very big poser, he uses people, he ALWAYS lies, he's a "slapdick"(someone that does the least about of work they can do to get by). Ya know...he's not really a kid that deserves respect. I've done probably like 5 papers for him out of the kind of my heart, and in return he brought my fast food once. He used to come over at like 10 at night and ask me to make him a CD or two for free and bring it to him in the morning. That's not saying much for him is it. Do you see why people don't respect him? Third, Most of the kid here do pay for insurance. I have to pay for insurance and gas. There's only a select few i can think of that don't have to pay for anything at all. Anothing thing, most of the kids that have the money and everything are really friendly people. They're always cracking jokes, and having fun. Fourth, if someone says ok, now that you're turning 16, you can get a car, and a system. the car has to be in this price range, and the system has to be in this price range. Are you gonna turn that down? You're probably thinking well, he probably doesn't deserve it. When i got to high school, I started lifting weights, as a requirement for football. I am currently the strongest kid in my school. I'm 6' 205lbs. My school's weight lifting team has been undefeated for the past 3 years. I deadlift 535. I'm a softmore, and the softmore record for the NATION in the 200-220lbs weight class is 551(http://www.usapowerlifting.com/records/national/men-high-school-fresh-soph.shtml). I have 2.5 months to get it. I normally jump 20-30lbs in a month. No, i don't take steriods or any other suppliments. I just eat a lot, and i get lucky. i'm a year ahead of the average softmore in math and science. All my other classes are honors, i decided to only take academic classes by the way i've got 5a's and 2b's. I have modelling practices every tuesday night. I currently own 2 weight lifting records at my school. I'm #1 ever to deadlift 535(my school was built in like 1950) and i am currently 3rd for Clean. So i've got to work out 4 days a week, juggle a job that i work 5 days a week, and modeling every tuesday and homework. Now tell me...do you think that i've worked hard enough for a car and a system...

Everyone and thier dog has a loud system- sounds like comformity to me.

So again, according to your theory, girls will be looking at all of us with decent sounding systems then.

Your theory also seems to degrade women to the level of falling for a guy because he has a loud stereo. Honestly, when it comes to women, sorry to say, the stereo doesnt mean a hill of beans. While it may be interesting to talk about, and work on together, or even just listen to- it takes more than a stereo to attract a woman. -Or did Alfred Kinsey miss something in that equation?

Oh wow, I run Dell Computers- a Dimension 8200 Desktop and an Inspirion 8200 Notebook. Both are top of the line from Dell in each respective area.

I only purchased these two PC's because of thier functionability and what the system had to offer to me. I still run Hi Capacity Circuit Trunk Trouble Shooting for a large communications company from time to time; I also have webmaster responsibilities for a few websites, plus, I gather a whole slew of information for colleages of mine. This and my actual free time- which is also mostly spent on the Computer.

Functionability is my only reason for having these Machines, but hey, now that I can be cool too- that is just an added plus. I am still myself, and that does not change in front of the computer or on the street, or because of what I have or do not have.

That last line is the point many of us have been trying to make here, be you for you- not for what your material possesions are.

another thing. No one will win this battle through this opinionated message board. I think that bickering with each other over the same facts over and over is getting us no where. Obviously, the more mature people have experiences that have taught them to not be like us younger people. But we're young, we don't know any better. We will learn for ourselves. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but if we're going to get a loud system, that people can hear far away, we've already been lectured on what can happen, what will happen and everything else. I know i won't be like this in college(unless everyone else is, because i believe i'll still like it, but i won't want to look like the obnoxious jerk then) but for the mean time, why not just let me have my fun and learn the hard way. I'll learn just like all you did, i can assure you. But i'm not going to change my mind before i learn. You're probably thinking well, why not just save the trouble and take your word for it. I've taken your words of wisdom into concideration, and i don't play my music loud at night, especially at 2 in the morning. Why would i do that? Those are the kids that are the ****ing retards that make us other kids look bad. I've got a friend that drove through my neighborhood, which is 75% old people with his windows down blasting "Slob on my Knob" i slouched in my seat and closed my window, tried to change the song but he yelled at me and since he was giving me a ride home, there wasn't really anything i could do. I'm not that type of disrespecful teen. But really, why can everyone just let my learn for myself. It's not like i'm going to kill or seriously injure anyone. Just give me a break, and let me have my few years of fun before i have to grow up.
