what's up with sonic electronix?

How the hell do they get away with selling their products at such low prices? I'm always surfing multiple car audio sites and sonics prices are so low that I start thinking maybe they're a bit "shady".

Anybody buy something from them? How was your experience? Are they good to go? Do they have some hidden costs, etc?

I've heard good things about the people of the company but the crazy low prices are harming the industry. I was talking about this with a rep yesterday and the comment was made that prices can't possibly go any lower without quality becoming even further compromised. New products come out for sale online with barely any profit margin in the markup. Go with what the consumers demand, right?

Bought from Sonic in the past before opening my own accounts at distributors...The online merchants make it really hard for small local shops to survive...Most of the time you can buy items online for what my distributor wants me to pay for it...VM Innovations is a prime example....you can buy Hifonics amps at the retail level cheaper than my dealer cost....if the manufacturers would crack down on pricing structures we could be more competitive with the online stores....Some of them try to deter online sales like Soundstream...Any Soundstream amp bought online carries a 90 day warranty from SS even if they are an authorized dealer I believe IIRC.....where as if I sell and install it for you...its 2 years....

holy crap I'm glad this is a straight company.

They have an MB quart onx1.2000d for $250.....marked down from $560. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

If only sound stream would make amps like they used to!

I'd love to find an OS rubi or reference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

yeh but like double 07 said these prices are killing s mall bussiness . same thing as what amazon is doing putting all the smaller companies out. loss of jobs chain reaction etc.

I hear ya on that TIK......a lot of the flagships from the 80s and 90s have gone to the dogs.......I remember running the old school Autoteks when they first came out........and the Hifonics old school amps

Maybe Sonic, VM Innovations, Online car stereo, Woofersetc, and Amazon won't start building custom enclosures anytime soon....If they do I give up!!! LOL
Woofers ect doesn't drive prices down, most of their stuff is pretty expensive.

Let's not act like small shops are suffering JUST because of online retailers, lots of those shops are shady and do terrible work. I don't know of a single shop I trust to do an install in my car. The fact is good audio shops are hard to find.
