Whats up with friends components?

My friend has liek an 01 passat maybe.. with the factory premium sound system (not sure who made it.. monsoon?) anyways, point is its an amp and dual component set. his right rear speakers are acting funny. the tweet is playing really softly and is only playing really high freq.s, and his mid isnt even working, although he said sometimes it comes on for a minute and sounds really distorted.

could this be a bad channel on the amp, bad connection, blown woofer? havent seen this before so we could use a little help. thanks

I'd always start with checking connections as thats a free fix, if that is indeed the problem.

Does your friend play the music really loud sometimes? Factory speakers can be blown pretty easily with high volumes.
