Most wires should say on them. If they dont then I can give you a rough estimate. If the wire is about 3/8 in. in diameter with the insulation it is more likely 8 guage. If it is bigger than this then it is bigger than 8 guage. Hope that helps

im actually using regular like almost electrical cord thick wire, with the two wires? well im using them both to connect to the positive, then one goes to my HU, and one goes to my amp

OMG I would say you are severely starving your amp like hell and getting nowhere near what you could get out of it. I would say go ahead and get 8 guage for the amp and for the h/u I would say you are fine with that stuff. Thats what im doing lol only I got an electrical cord runing directly through the firewall drectly connected to the battery + for the battery + on my h/u
