Whats the only good to come of Cash for Clunkers?

cash for clunkers helped a lot of car dealerships get out of their huge slump. The program paid huge dividends, don't be jealous because you couldn't utilize the program
The dealerships havent gotten any money yet. How do you feel that your tax money went straight into the pockets of CEOs that are doing a crappy job at running car companies?

And I would be jealous because I didnt drive a "clunker"?

who would be jealous abotu trading in a "clunker" or PIECE OF SHIT car? just curious man

Loads of dealerships went out of business, many dealerships were screwed over because the plan did not pay the dealerships what they were owed, oh and there will be a disturbing string of repo'ed new cars here soon.

First off f*ck you. Second off all I care, and I care deeply. Don't let some speak for all. I couldve done the cash for clunkers personally but I knew something like this would happen. People shouldve known it was a short burst of good about the economy with the instent surge of car loans. Some people who paticipated in the clunker program even got their cars taken because the shortage of cash. But I wouldve told any mom and pop dealership not to do the program because of the long periods of time to get the money back. Everybody wants to jump on money, so it was instant hit to began with. So did it work yes and no. Yes it shot some life into the economy and no it screwed some dealerships.

Actually I feel 'thegreatestpenn' is far above that and thinks for his own. I was just stating facts about what has happened. There is a dealership near my wife's office that is just very recently closed, it has a large sign on the front saying something along the lines of; 'We are closed, Thanks Obama!"

I think Cash for Clunkers will come back to haunt whoever pushed it into legislation. One of the most misguided and ill-logical concepts I've heard of.

People who drive a clunker and have to buy a new car to cash in their clunker for a discount on the new car most likely can not afford a new car in the first place, I'm sure a majority of cars will come back to the dealerships/lenders by mean of lien repossession.

Seriously, when you drive a clunker worth essentially nothing, and want to get a new car on a loan with a 4500 dollar discount off sticker price, in this economy and job market, just put 1 and 2 together.

It's obvious what will happen to a majority of the new cars...

Cash for clunkers is just a temporary bandage for the auto industry, that bandage will ultimately become contaminated, and leave behind yet another infection in the market.

I don't think it was a wonderful idea, but it was a much better idea than the Porkulus. Put money in the hands of the people, and not into the hands of lobbyists? Brilliant! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

man, you are so off base. its pretty sad. cash for clunkers did nothing for me. I don't care about the program one bit. I do know plenty of car dealers that worked the program brilliantly. others didn't. That's just like any other opportunity we get in life, either you can make it work for you or it will work against you. Hell that's capitalism at its finest.
