im gettin two 12" kicker L7's 4ohm for my chevy cavalier. thay will be getting a little more then their RMS wattage, at 1ohm. I want alot of sound pressure in the car and feels like a fan is blowing behind ya u kno, but not sure what enclosure to put them in, thinkin about a slot vented but not sure if i should get the vents to be in the middle with a divider or the type of box with the vents that are on the outer sides, not in the middle. any suggestions??

2 12'' L7's would be very hard to get "air" moving. with 2 12'' type R's its very easy to do. start by making a large box and tuning low, but your overall output will be lower. i have made 2 box's for your subs. 3 cubes @ 34 hz sounded good.

Could you elaborate a little more here? I'd like to know where you are coming from on this one because I am contemplating the L7 for my next setup. Is it an efficiency issue or something?? Let me know.

And where do you come up with that? Is that a fact? Or just what you think?

I don't know much about alpine Type R's, except that they are supposed to have very good sound quality for a budget setup..

But I have a very hard time believing, a sub with less cone area, and half the RMS power rating, could be louder then a sub with more cone area and twice the rms....

Not to mention L7's will take 1200+ rms all day

Type r with Sound quality? lol

And Type rs can hold more than 1200rms

I mean Psturmer is gonna be running 4 2krms amps on 4 12 Type rs lol

Type rs get very loud for the price......

Of course 4 alpine type r's will be louder, but 2? I just not so sure..

And can tehy take 1200rms? Or can they burp 1200rms? I ran my brutus 1600w daily on my L7, and it never sweated it

edit: btw no im not stating stuff like its a fact, im curious my self..

I just don't see how a sub with less power handling, and less surface area, is supposed to get louder then the other..

re-edit: Also whats laughable about Type r's having sound quality? I've been out of the car audio loop for about 2 years now, but last I heard they were supposed to be budget SQ subs? Whereas L7's are more aimed towards budget spl?...

Wouldn't a better compairson, be L5's vs Type R's?

Are you serious //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif wow I've never herd about putting that much to 12's maybe 15's but not 12's rated 500Rms putting 2000rms is pushing it isnt it is this power for burping or is he gonna be running it daily?

Must have a hell of a electrical.....

well i first noticed this when i made my first box for a 15'' L7. they get loud, but they dont move a lot of air. its not a bad thing, its just something to be aware of. L7's are not a good idea if you want to do a hair trick

i have 2 12 L7's right now with a hifonics bxi2006d and its pretty loud, the box i have is a nolte audio box its 33wX13.5hX18d and i dont know what its tuned to and its loud, u will get used to it, i dont think i have nearly enough room in my car to give the L7's their full potential since the max dimensions i can use is 35wX14.3hX21D so im thinking about maybe getting 2 10's or 1 good 12, the only thing that sux is ill lose alot of cone area if i go with a round sub, ive been looking into re xxx or 2 10's

i would probably go with something like 4.0-6.0Cu ported to around 33-34Hz i think would get those thing to slam, goodluck with your choice im sure some other people who have these subs will let you know...

no such thing as a LOUDEST enclosure because its different for each car now if you want the LOUDEST for your car its going to take alot of testing and tuning. If you dont want to do all that then just go with kickers specs or something.

what car they going in? sorry if I missed this info, I generealy do about 3^3ft per sup at around 35hz if you want loud and moving alot of air. About 60^2in of port area per sub too
