whats the deal with my Q's?

ive noticed that my Q's dont respond to nearly as wide of a frequency band as my L7s did. and these Q's are sealed vs. my L7s being ported at 38Hz. sealed = flatter response. wtf is goin on? they can be loud as **** on one song but very quite on another which is normally a loud song. probably only like 10-20% of my "high bass" songs are actually still high bass songs after switching to the Q's.

Never had that problem with my Q. It sounded good on rock and rap. Just getting it to last more than a month was my problem.
How is that FatMat working out for you?
what? what happened to your Q?

mine sounds great, it just doesnt get loud on a lot of frequencies that my L7s did.

fatmat has def helped with the vibration. i got some second skin sludge and damplifier im gonna throw in this summer though. cant wait.

Wrong box size? I run a 15" Q in the GF's car, 4cubes @32Hz and it hits hard and sounds good on everything. VERY happy with that sub...
enclosure is 1.2 cubes per chamber after displacement (sealed). this is what Fi recommends on SSA.

and the box is solid, trust me. its well supported and double baffled. made of 3/4 MDF. used screws and liquid nails.

Been stated many times. So many times, that I seem to have pissed off a couple loyal fans of the Fi breed, which I wasn't trying to do. I just don't feel like they are not as good as everyone makes them out to be, so I give my opinion and most don't like it. Oh well, shit happens.

As far as what happened. Which time, lol!

They say I blew it the first time and they fixed it for free. Thing was only seeing maybe top 900rms with gains and everything turned down and deck never going past 45 on a Pioneer 880. So I chalked that up as my fault, I guess. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Then this time the cone part is ripping away from the surround part and no one seems to know how that can happen, which I am clueless too as I had a grill covering it, so I know nothing hit it as I do use my trunk for groceries and such. But was a complete grill, not these Kicker bling things. So I have no clue as how that can happen. I have been trying to sell it on here for a few weeks now, but nobody wants it, well had a couple people back out of it. It will cost me 85 for a recone, 45 to ship to them and 45 to ship back, so looking at 175 smacks to do it. I may, I may not. Depends. I would probably just sell it and maybe make back what I just reconed on it. It may sell then though.

Glad to hear you are getting good results with the fatmat. I still will only use on the floors and the Damplifer everywhere else.

well did you use a DMM to set gains? what about checking the output with an o-scope to make sure its not clipping? to be honest, ive never heard of any issue like this with Fi. perhaps its just an isolated incident. either way, that sux man.

damplifier is going in the front doors. any leftover will go on the rear deck. and the sludge will go in the crevaces in the trunk and if theres enough ill lay a thin coat over the floor too.

No, but I have most of my gains set low and when I had this put in from a shop they set it using a O-Scope or so they told me. I did check the gains and they were set pretty low through my amps and crossover. Maybe it is an isolated incident, but I will chalk it up to a lesson learned, cause I have a CVX in the same box, same settings and at the time when I first put it in, same amp. Never had any problems and sounded pretty good. Still working after a month of having it in there, lol!

I wasn't really a fan of my Q15, it was in 4cubes at 29hz, not alot of output. I may have liked it more in a smaller higher tuned box. I thought it sucked in that big/low box, never did try it in anything else before I sold it.

well dude, the 880 has pretty hi V preouts doesnt it? that means the gains dont need to go real high before they start to clip the signal. but it could have just as easily been a faulty sub.

Yeah it does, but like I said, have a cheaper sub, with less RMS going to my CVX and sounds better overall. Like I said and you have mentioned, it could be and isolated incident, or faulty sub.

So back to your question at hand.

Nice to know someone else didn't like there's as well, but will say I liked it well it worked.

uh is it me or does that need to be in a 2cuft for better lows..With my rf t1s 12s thay said 1.25cuft for sealed and well it sound like shit:(..So i made 2cuft box sealed and wow NIGHT AND DAY DIFFRENTNCE.So what i'm saying is you can't allways go by fi or rf recommends:crap:mybe go bigger if you can
