Whats the deal with Kinetik 16v Batts?

I see pretty much all 16v tri-post batteries have developed swelling or bulging.

I gathered that this is caused by an unequal load on the cells when using the battery for both 12v and 16v output.

I'm simply looking for a 16v battery (actually, several) that does not swell when only using the 16v posts.

I would not be using the batteries for 12v use. I am interested in the D1000 from Powermaster because it does not have any problems I have heard of, but I am wondering if I would have any issues with the Kinetiks if I were to only use them for 16v. There are a number of people selling 16v kinetiks and are therefore much cheaper than having to buy a bunch of brand new PM batts

Also, how would 1 Kinetik 16v battery compare to the D1000 from powermaster?

Any info is appreciated.

I've got 8 Kinetik 16v's with no bulging on any of them and no problems at all.

I see that I have seen a number of other people selling them as well. Just wondering about the questions stated above...

And I see they've gone up 5 dollars from your for-sale thread. Did you charge them for me or are you including stickers?

Were they 165 on the thread? My friend made the thread for me and I haven't looked yet. 165 it is.

I've never had any probs with swelling kinetiks and I've used quite a few of em.

I have only seen 1 pic of a kinetik 16v swell. Heard others talk about it but those people work for another manufacturer. If you have a bank of the kinetik 16v and are using a lot of 12v accesories it would be a good idea to hook up more than 1 12v post out of the bunch. Every year after all the finals a lot of competitors sell their batteries to buy new next year for a new or ifferent project or class. If you have a question over hooking them up give kinetik a call.

As for the law suit as it stands it is a complaint used for advertising, tons of world champion competitors still use kinetik and Kinetik was the USACI outstanding manufacturer of the year l at 2008 finals.

For the record... I have seen two swolen Kinetik 16v batteries from when the 12v post was used. I imagine the risk is lowered if you have a large bank of them so the 12v draw becomes relatively low.

I own 48 of them and have NO ISSUES with them . I love them batteries and i got them a lot cheaper than 170/battery , i also bought a pallet though !!!!!!

Just an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif swelling can be due to many issues. Remember that these batteries have a plastic shell and when subjected to high heat, they may bulge. So unless you were present and saw it bulge under normal temps and with correct wiring, you should be skeptical.

Same would go for a certain brand of woofers or amps that one guy had an issue with. Just because one guy had an issue, does not mean that you will have the same issue.
