Whats a good way to stop roof flex...(besides doing deadener)

im going to add deadener sometime, but what else can i do, on my blazer i remember i had support bars that went across the roof and i sprayed expanding foam up there and it worked great along with the deadener

anything else some of you have done?

and whats the easiest way to take out a headliner?

You'll have to take off all the molding to the the headliner off on that explorer...

I can't remember if those are seamed on the top or bottom... so it may involve taking off ALL the molding...

is it alot of trouble, or not that bad? just some pop offs and seat belt bolts?

its a 04 XLT, just a regular overhead console, not a fancy one, i only took down part of my blazer so i could get to the back of it

The best way I can think of to take down a headliner is to have more than one set of hands //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif . Of course you already knew that.

In Rasoal's Expedition we took down the entire headliner and put up 3 layers of second skin. The more obvious solution to your problem would be a couple of rods running from your roof to the floor but this may look pretty hidious. Roof flex is not very easy to stop. Just do multiple layers of deadener and I think you'll be good.

I added 1/2" MDF w/ 2 layers of mat for my roof on my explorer. Heres some pics of it where i cracked my roof. One of the support bars came loose and caused weak spot from flexin....

how many sq ft would do the roof good?+some extra for back hatch and front doors?
